I just went to auto trader.com to see how many private sellers are out there for T4R models 2007 to 2009 and there were only 6 within 200 miles. Closest is 97 miles away. And I live in central New Jersey.

Only 6. That speaks volumes.

Same search for a BMW 328i brings up 27 hits.

was lucky enough to join the T4R ranks recently with an 05 SE V8 with only 60k on the odo. It def took patience and constant checking of autotrader to land that one...........but it was well worth it in the end!

I know dealers blow smoke but I went to look at the gen 5 a few weeks ago and the dealer made sure to express it very clearly that he'd pay top dollar for my 07 because they have a lot of requests.

All I can say is that I got lucky. Almost lost my life in one north of me but I drove 75 miles south and brought one home. I wasn't really looking and I kind of think that is how I found it.

I am very happy with mine!

I had my heart set on a Tacoma but, when I found out that they don't make one with power seats or even a height adjustable seat (I am 6' tall but, I think the seat on the Tacoma is too low) I bought the new 2008 Urban Runner they had on the lot and I have been very happy with it. Even though there are small things that bothered me about it when I first got it, it is a great machine that I'll keep for 10 years or more. My father gets first dibs when i sell it.

I've had a hell of a time finding a 06-09 Sport up here in the north east. Granted I'm looking specifically for silver but most of the dealers are asking top dollar and tell me they have no wiggle room.. I guess the used car market isn't as profitable as it use to be.

my 4th gen is easily the best truck/SUV I've ever had. This includes my previous SURFs and Lexus RX300. :thumb3:

Regarding the bimmers: You forget that BMWs are great "lease" cars. After the lease is up, it's best (for many reasons) to rid yourself of them. It's a shame they are not reliable.

I just bought a 2003 Dark Blue Limited V8 with 96K on it. Got it for $10,500 and think I got a steal. I towed a 2000 Crownline 180BR about 1,000 miles right after I bought it and you could hardly tell the boat was there, other than stopping frequently at gas stations.

Going down I drove 70-80 mph and got about 12.5 mpg going down the WV Turnpike which is windy and hilly. Coming back I kept it under 65 mph and got 13.6 mpg. Checked it the other day with no towing and combined city/highway and got about 17.5 mpg.

So far I really like the 4Runner and so does my wife. Been a Volvo guy since 1985 and recently bought a BMW 330xi and now a 4Runner. Luckily I read all about the Volvo XC90 which is what I thought I wanted, but reading about the 4Runner changed my mind. Pretty sure I'll be glad I did.

I personally DO NOT like the way the 5th Gen looks, and I feel like they knocked of some features on each trim model making them less equipped the lower you go. My '05 SR5 Has the auto latching trunk like in a caddie!:thumb3:

My rig is my 4th 4th Gen 4runner. And I had a 2010 Sorry, got rid of it for a BMW 335i. No regrets. Also yes the fifth is not as good as a 4th. But its by no mean horrible. Just needs the 4.6litre. And loose the20inch rims.
