I don't have experience with it, but if you're wanting to run kayaks, especially with how it operates I would think 60" would be the way to go.

I've got the 48" Thule bars and they are pretty flush with the sides of the 4Runner.

I initially went with 48" Yakima bars for an Autohome Columbus small (48" wide) and the bars just cleared the factory roof rack rails. You can see them under the tent.
I now have a Autohome AirTop medium (51" wide) and used the 58' bars. They do hang out further over the sides of the truck. Hope these give you an idea of the width.

Can anyone help me identify what rails I have on my 4Runner?
I bought it with these installed and cannot figure out what they are or what roof rack would mount to it.

Looks like someone had an aftermarket basket style rack like a Gobi or something but forgot to give you the basket.
I'd just remove everything and replace it with a new one. It looks like you have wiring up there for lights though.
Thanks for the info guys. I went out and purchased some Thule bars. The extra height helped out to open the hatch with the box. I don't notice any more wind noise than before. The box is also more stable attached to the Thule bars than than the stock bars.

I have the rhino rack vortex bars. They're 50inches wide.

I realize most people don't consider them, but they're really quiet, well built, and have really nice accessories.
My favorite accessory is the multipurpose utility holder. Great for fishing poles, oars, or snow shovels.

Are those the Thule Rapid Crossroad Foot Pack 450R with those aeroblades?
Anyone one use the Edge 7503B. Just want to make sure i will have clearance with the antenna in the back.

Yes it is!
I have the widest Thule square bars that they make. 72" sticks in my mind. Don't make fun of my double crossbars. I didn't have time to remove the OEM ones before the trip.

I just installed 48" Yakima on my new sr5 with 2" overhang. On my 3rd gen with the same bars, I had about 5" overhang which I preferred. Being only 5'8 and load bikes, surfboards, sups and yaks regularly, the extra overhang made it easier to load. I also have 66" bars but only swap those out when I put my car top carrier on or for surf road trips with 4-6 boards strapped down.

No less than 58" for any car including T4R's.
The only reason to "maybe" go shorter is if you are a Giant and can't quit hitting your head or your eye on the load bar. >58" load bars give you increased capacity and versatility.

Yeah they were rail grabs, I never had a problem with them at any speed. Very noise either, whether I was running them with an flaring or wind jammer

I just installed my railgrab on my 16. I've had railgrabs on my wife's Highlander with no issues traveling 65+ with cartops, surfboards, bikes, etc., on top. Just check the tightness of the hex bolts every once in awhile. I noticed her railgrabs would get loose occasionally.
The railgrabs should come with three 'arms' to accommodate various side rails. It comes with the small arms installed and that's what you'd use for the T4R rails. It's about a 15 minute install job.
Thanks. It is actually a 30mm travel lefty made specifically for this bike. The bike is surprisingly versatile. I knocked out 49 miles one day a few weeks ago that had a little bit of everything.

Anyone running 47 inch long bars with the aero system? I dont have kayaks, just want bars for a cargo box with little to no overhang... will 48 fit our trucks with the thule crossroad setup?

Hi there, just replaced my '01 4R with a new 2018. Now need to get a roof setup that will hold 2 SUPs and 1-2 kayaks.
Reviving an old thread - How do you like your Whispbars? Thinking of the S18 through bars (58") and K328 fit kit. I found these model nos on another post here, but all the compatibility checkers say they're not compatible with an '18 4R. Did you have any issues with install? Some pretty good deals out there on the Whispbars right now. Could go with Thule or Yakima Aerobars but would prefer to save $. Thx!
