In my experience ODO rollbacks usually use a less suspicious figure. 25k miles is so low that the modder wouldn't expect folks to believe the miles were that low .. unless they really are.

It also makes me feel better that he discloses VIN and phone number. Then again, I'm the trusting type lol!
 
Could be true. But I'm suspicious of this statement, "After his passing his properties were seized. What I learned is that once a unclaimed vehicle is towed, the towing company can claim the automobile after filing the appropriate paper work and advertising."

If the shady individual who passed had his assets seized, why wouldn't the Penn government have taken it to sell? Why would a tow company get lucky?

That doesn't add up for me. Anyone have an explantion?

On the flip side, ebay motors and paypal will guarantee the purchase to be as described or you have recourse thru them but I'm sure that isn't hassle free.

I'd ask to see a pic of the title with enough detail to compare to the VIN and/or run a vin check too. Luck! :cowboy:
 
Sounds like one of those emails I get from Nigeria from someone needing my bank account numbers to retrieve unclaimed money (unfortunately, I'm afraid the money they want to retrieve is mine!). Might be legit, but sounds fishy.
 
Looks like the new buyer will need some new CV boots. Check out the lower control arm.

I wonder what it was used to tow. I don't think I have ever seen a mounted 7 pin connector on a 4runner before. I guess that can contribute to the brake fluid that looks like it has a good 100,xxx+ miles on it.

I guess that High Performance Labor allows for no torque sticks to be used in the tire changing bays.

It kills me the rear diff locker option was a whopping $325.
 
So it was a drug dealer's truck? Epic. Also, the badges on the rear don't all seem to match. The gold Toyota is much more gold than the other two... maybe hit and replaced?

I would suspect this was someone who died and had no one to take over their estate, or so much debt that no one wanted to deal with it. I suspect this truck has been tied up in legal issues for a while now. There's a title lien that's disclosed that was probably what's considered a "mechanic's lien" that allowed the tow company to take possession of it after a certain amount of time. They charge a daily storage rate and after a while it racks up to more than the vehicle is worth, and the owner (in this case the estate) just steps away from it. Pretty rare for it to happen for something that's worth decent money like this though.

I'd say the truck itself is legit, but I'd want to see a clear title before I wrote the check for it just to make sure all that stuff is cleared up and there's a clear legal owner with the right to sell it.

Agree completely, it'd be REALLY hard to pass off a high mileage 4Runner as 25k miles! It would have to be immaculate inside and out with no little to no wear or use anywhere. This one really does look to only have 25k miles, everything is pristine. Not a bad price for what you are getting either, I've seen people as more for rigs with more mileage than that.

Yeah exactly. I forget how long it is, but there is a certain number of years that they suggest you do not keep your tires over no matter how much tread is left. I ended up getting rid of a set of nearly new expensive bridgestones a few years ago because they were 12 years old..
