Performance Chips?

I was trolling around the Superchips forum and found a post from Superchips in response to their lack of Toyota products. Apparently Toyota uses some "code" that they can not break?? But, they did say the only company they know of that does make a legit product for us in Unichip. Unichip - 2008 Toyota 4Runner tuning chip | car tuning. I'm wondering if anybody has used this product, or know of someone who has??

OK, I am going to make an admittion so dont judge me, it was a moment of selfish weakness.
2 vehicles ago (2001 chevy blazer) I was looking on line for something to improve the blazer performance. I purchased what the website said was a legal chip...what I got was a dam 30 cent resistor for 40 bucks...can not remember exactly because this was a very negitive mental experince I did not want to remember details too. The resister is connect (spiced in) to a couple wires on the MAF sensor tricking the computer that the air is colder that it really is. Well guess I dont have to tell you guys that it did not work. I am sure it does in a very specific condition but not the majority of the time or none of the time with me until I sold the darn thing for another GMC product...same darn mobility problems too.
So, here are just my thoughts, dont buy them...your vehicle should already be optimally tuned. Unless, you overhaul every and new engine too.

Don't know anyone DUMB enough to use one.

These chips are designed for SUCKERS. Same with every other gas-saving device on the market. You'll get MARGINAL increase in performance and at the expense of WORSE gas mileage.

These chips work by changing the numbers in the tables that the PROGRAM reads to make adjustments like Advancing the timing more running a little more rich at higher RPM's. This is NOT going to give you any kind of MAJOR increase in performance. Sorry...it's all a pipe dream if you think it will. But there are SUCKERS born every minute who'll spend THOUSANDS of dollars thinking they are buying this technological breakthrough device.

Sometimes people just have to learn by doing. It doesn't matter how much I tell my baby sister (she is 15, I am in my 30's) something I have learned in my old age... she has to go out and learn herself.

Somethings just have to be learned by practice.

Everyone has heard the old saying, If it sounds to good to be true it's mostly likely not. I was looking at 2 websites offering Performance chips and was thinking this may a case of to good to be true.

Here's what these site claim:

Up to +75 Horsepower
Up to +80 Ft.Lbs of Torque
Up to +8 MPG Fuel Savings

Feel the Horsepower & Torque across the entire rpm range
Improve your Towing Ability
Improve your Climbing and Passing Ability
Crisper Throttle Response
Better Fuel Economy
Help Smooth Out Your Rough Idle
Faster Off-The-Line Acceleration
DYNO Tested & Approved
Street Legal Worldwide
Saves MONEY Every Time You Fill Up Your Tank
Lifetime Replacement Warranty
100% Money-Back Guarantee!*

the first 3 really seem impressive. I don't think a cat-back exhaust system would give that much HP gain with a 8mpg gain. The price is only $60-$70. And let's not forget the anyone can install it in 15 minutes claim. So? To good to be true or does anyone have experience with these chips?

Hey, sorry to say it but its total garbage. You want anything you r going to have to spend some money Our trucks are like Euros. gotta spend good money for good stuff....Anyways Check out URDusa.com there you will find what u r looking for.

Why aren't they banned ?

I am wondering why this "G-Force" chip company is allowed to continue advertizing on this forum if it clear that all this nonsense is a scam... ?

Chipping

I think I might want a little assistance in the power department. Has anyone installed a programmer or chip that is actually worth paying for? I have DT long tubes on order and I'm toying with the thought of catbac dual side dump, ie. doing away with y pipe. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
