Performance/Maintenance ?'s and Parts...

I have a 1999 Limited 4Runner w/ the gray 1st/3rd gen supercharger (the one with the oil reservoir on under the nose cone).

I am looking for a few parts and some advise from someone who may know a little more about engines than I do.

I need to oil the supercharger because I am at 170,000 miles and I do not think it has ever been changed... I believe the s/c has been on this vehicle since it was purchased from the dealer.

on that note, I plan to take the s/c off (or probably have someone do it for me). I want to do all of the maintenence that can be done / is recommended to be done while I have the top of the motor off.

I will be replacing the head gaskets for sure. I am interested in adding any performance parts that are actually worth it, while I am in there. Some original ideas were the throttle body spacer, CAI, plug wires, I dunno....

I have heard mixed reviews about the throttle body spacer and CAI, that they really don't increase performance to a significant level. I was thinking just do a deck plate mod, that way I can close it up and back to normal when I am offroad.

What are your suggestions for engine maintenance while I'm in there? I plan on having Magnuson rebuild my nose cone... anyone have experience w/ this?

I am looking for PARTS:

Digital Clock above radio (its a limited)
Automatic antenna
New CD/Tape/Radio player (the mechanics are old and the CDs don't go in well)

Thanks for the help guys, I'm new to the forum so please excuse the NOOBness.

thanks,

Get on the oil - You will need to search around, but there is a lot of threads showing detailed instructions on how to pull the blower so you can change the oil AND it depends on weather you have the gray or the black....Check out your injectors and fuel rail, dont worry about TB spacer and look up deck plate mod and intake silencer removal - What makes you want to change your HG???? More details on how she runs...Also make sure you have plugs that are 1-2 heat ranges colder than stock....Those are easy to replace however...

I would skip the Deck plate mod, you have a Super Charger installed and doing the DP will add very little and you won't notice any gains. Not sure why people with a SC would even consider that mod?

Everything else you have planned sounds like a good idea, not sure if the TB spacer will do anything though...

My baby

Fellas, thanks so much for the advice. So, the engine runs like a champ. It has been well cared for. I think the previous owner decided to buy a new car because they didn't feel like dealing w/ the S/C and the auto ac had some issues. Other than that she purrs like a lion. The S/C just sounds a little dry if anything, and it has some residue coming out of the back of it which I believe may be leaked oil. The head gaskets have residue around them also, however it isn't all that bad. I just figure I'll do all the maintenance I can while I'm at it so I don't have to crack the engine open again in the near future. Thank you for the temp suggestions for the spark plugs and your opinions on the DP and TB. CAI?? Thanks again fellas, I'll get some pictures up here soon so you can see her.
