Pet barrier

Hello, I am currently making a pet barrier that attaches to the head rest posts. I am making it out of 1 1/4" PVC. I bought all the components for about 12 dollars at Home Depot. I know the store bought clamp on types are about 70 to 100 dollars. If anybody is interested I can post some pictures or explain how easy it is to make. You just need to drill about 6 holes in the base of the PVC and the headrests will slip into the barrier and hold it up.

Also I am looking for some ideas on how to cover the sides of the cargo area and the back of the seat. I want to protect this from my 2 German Shepherds. I have some thick commercial carpet custom fitted to seal the bottom of the cargo area but not the sides and the back.

They have full coverage for the sides and seatbacks. It's a bit expensive though.

How is that barrier holding up? I bought a cheap one off of Amazon a couple months ago and it is no match for one of my GSDs. She will push on it until it is more or less loose and unsafe, so we gave up on it. She's a big baby and thinks she needs to sit right in the middle console. For fear of wrecking, I need a safe way to confine her to the cargo area.

I have a big lab, about 120lbs. What I do is put his leash on and run the leash (I use a harness, he has a big neck and can slide out of a collar) out the back tail gate and hook it to the hitch receiver. I keep the leash long enough so he can stick his head over the back seat so the kids can pet him.

Unless I bolted a cage in he would push it over.

For my goofy Labrador, I installed an eye bolt in the floor and attach a 2' leash to her harness at the chest. She can still stick her face out of the side, but her body can not possibly go outside of the vehicle from any direction and she can still use all of the space in back. Works great and only cost me about $12 with the leash!

I use the same theory for my dog. I attach the leash to the underside of the middle row. He can stick his head out the windows but cant get in the front seats or cargo area.

I just use the D rings by the back hatch, and attach a leash to that. I give him enough room to use all of the cargo area, and thats all he needs.
