Petroglyphs & 4Runners!

New member
Looking to form group that wants to go out on weekend day trips exploring various desert locals (JoBerg, JTree, Mojave etc) in search of Indigenous Rock Art, old mines and natural whatnots. Already have various waypoints in gps, so no shortage of ideas
Safety first. Slow and go over desert territory now that the weather has cooled down (eventually). I’m taking out my DD, so not looking to concur the world.

Go ahead and either PM or add to this thread if interested. Looking to start 1st weekend November

If there is currently a group that meets for this w/in this forum, my apologies

Always down to explore. We usually put a run once a month. We just had a run at Anza- ocotillo this past weekend. Where are you thinking about exploring?

As I am new to the world of Toyota's and off-roading. I would be down for day trips and exploring. Easy trails to moderate. Have sliders,lockers,skids.
 
im down to explore, just depends on which weekend i guess. i have a 2wd though, but great tires. keep me updated, would love to join.

btw, i am going to joshua tree sunday morning and meeting up with [MENTION=117408]Oneluv13T4R[/MENTION] (Miah), he is taking me up berdoo canyon into geology tour road. shoot me a PM if you want to join us. i am sure it will be fine.

November 4 -- Aikens Arch

Hi All....
I was thinking for our first travel, going out to Aiken Arch outside of Baker CA.

Aikens Arch - California - Map and Area Photos

We could hit the lava tubes on the way out there, in addition, I know of at least two separate Petroglyph sites near by. If we make good time, we could also go to a recent (late 80's) abandoned rock processing plant out there. The road past the lava tubes is littered with lava rock, but no major rocks to climb over. I believe some walking will be involved to get to arch.

Starting out at 7am outside of BunBoy (world's tallest thermometer)

Hoping temp goes down by November 4... feedback?

Both the lava tubes and Aiken arch are a little distance from trail. Short walks to each site will be involved, just remember to take a bottle of water out of your rig anytime walking away from your rig in the desert.
Definitely littered in lava rock all around that area ...a complete layer actually and they are sharp ..if the tread on your tires are sub par I wouldn't recommend it. Ask me how I know...and that was with brand New BFG k02's which was in November 2 years ago maybe 3.
The rock plant is cool it still has the old truck scales you can drive onto..
cool photo op Also the ground/terrain there makes your rig look like it's on another planet when looking at photos.
A lot to see and do out there ..if you like exploring old stuff that has much history and tells a story almost to the point of what lead you to it ...then it's an amazing area. Mojave It's one of my favorites by far.
