Thanks for the info on the comparisons between LR4 and DXO...very helpful.

I'll have to download the DXO trial and do my own comparing. In the meantime, I'll try to give LR4 a proper workout.

Ha ha, sorry. They were taken at various stages throughout my gear setups.


Body: Either Nikon D300 or D700
Lenses: Nikon 16-35mm, Nikon 24-70mm, Nikon 70-200mm, Nikon 105mm Micro (Macro lens).
Editing: Photoshop and Lightroom
Filters: Lee graduated neutral density

The macro lens made me remember I forgot to include this guy!

How keen are y'all on the idea of photo challenges? I think it'd be fun - I know the 3rd gen guys have a 4Runner Photo Challenge... but for the sake of this thread I think we could keep it to a general photo challenge (i.e. long night exposure, action shot, etc.). What y'all think?

Don't know how you feel about photoshopping but I tried to eliminate the power lines the best I could(obviously if you see the original photo, you'll know where to look):

Actually, what I do want to do is have everyone say what areas of photography they might be pretty good in (i.e., landscape, portrait, lightroom) and maybe some of the areas where you'd like to improve. Maybe I or the OP can get a running list going on the first page so we'd have a reference. Maybe list your equipment too.

I'll start. I think I'm pretty good at outdoor sports photography, on-site product photography and maybe a little auto(?). But of course can learn a TON more in all of this.

I would love to learn more about lighting in general, studio product photography, night and portrait (I don't ever want to get into portrait photography, but I think it would be nice to learn)

Yah I'd be down for something like that also.... You think we just have a list of our usernames, with equipment we use, and our what our "specialties" are, as well as areas of future interest/growth?

Exactly. I think personally a reference would be nice so perhaps I/we could ask specific questions to specific members. Or offer advice to anyone if I/we could give it.
