Did you slant this on purpose because of the log? Personally, I think it would look better if the horizon was straightened...but if you did it on purpose...

i slanted that one because of the way the waves come in, it looked really weird either way... i didnt know how to take the pic, so i just took it lol

i know you said no phone pics, but i think with favorable lighting conditions some phone pics can look quite decent. these were taken in yoakum, texas with my iP5.

Wow, I'm takin heat all over for my cell phone comment at the beginning of this thread! Glad you posted those shots as there are great.

Great photos can be taken with cell phones and I've even got some with my terrible quality iphone 4. I simply wanted to try and keep this thread more of an in-depth discussion of photography, it's principles, techniques, as well as critiquing each others work if your open to it.

PS - this is an excellent skyline shot!

These were shot last year with a newly purchased Canon T3i, washed through Lightroom 4 which I just got...lovin' it btw.

This thread has inspired me to get to work on my photography chops...thanks folks.

One thing I never shoot outside of personal is portrait photography. Anyone with tips on how they clean up their portrait shots in photoshop, lightroom or both? Especially with candid shots where there is probably one strong light source like in the 2nd pic.

Oh and I know it would have been better to have a wider depth of field in the 2nd shot to get the whole face in focus, but I'm more looking for specific post-shot tips.

very cool guys! Excited to follow this thread as well. After all, it's just fun for me and I try new things from people like you with experience :).

Kid, you know exactly what kinda pics I like lol. LOVE tigers. probably too much

Here's a few of my favorite from the Mustang show a couple months ago.

Although I can't offer any advice pertaining to your comment, me and my girlfriend were just complimenting the shot above. Really cute and the DOF is perfect for his hair. Did you make any adjustments on his eyes? Looks great!

Had to bath the dogs today, snapped a couple pics while I was at it:

Tank looking super depressed. He loves swimming but hates baths?!

One side is a little overexposed due to the location of the lights, but turned out OK. I wish I could have stopped up here to get both dogs in focus but needed a fast-ish shutter speed. In retrospect, I could have bumped the ISO but I havent found the limits of the 6D yet and what I am comfortable shooting ISO-wise. I hate noise.

I actually took color out if you can believe it. That's my friends kid. His eyes are crazy! It really came out in that shot for whatever combo of lighting that was going on.

Wow, I never would have guessed that response. Very nice shot.

I've enjoyed reading this thread, you guys have so much talent and skill.

Even though I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing with a camera, my close friend hooked me up with a job this week as one of the assistant photographers for my college. I'm pretty excited, and hope this job can teach me some skill. And plus I'm getting 25% of my tuiton cost back :reddance:

I hope you guys will give me some constructive criticism along the way. The more I learn about this whole photography thing, the quicker I rip apart every photo I've taken that I thought was "decent"

Very nice, have fun with it :) I got some of my tuition back as well.

Hey that means I can afford batteries for my camera now.

Took these today.

What kind of camera did you shoot these with? Please don't take this wrong, but they're pretty blown out in spots and pretty underexposed in others. Was that what you were going for?

has anyone had issues with lightroom?, im getting an error message when i try to export. ins a "win32 API error 2" message that says i can not export this file because the system can not find its location, i googled it but the only answers i found told me to uninstall the most resent updates. i tried that. but my computer tells me i have no updates installed, so i just simply uninstalled the program and reinstalled it, but im not sure if this will fix my issue(s) lightroom gurus help please (this is why i love film -no damn computer to "go crazy" on me...

now after uninstalling lightroom, i can not reinstall it, because adobe application manager tells my lightroom 4.3 is "up to date" wtf
