Can't remember if any of these were a repost but this is what I got since I got into photography with the assistance of this forum.

Those are pretty different animals. One is a cropped sensor and the other is full frame. That alone should be enough for you to choose.

My Goal is general photography. I like to shoot at family events, I love shooting outside on vacation, anywhere. Night photography, portraits etc..

I did try the D600 and it's a powerful camera. The video on it is phenomenal.

I have to say I'm into the techy stuff, so if the next Nikon has built in wifi or bluetooth - sold!

What's your goal with it? I would personally choose the d600, but I would not go for the 24-85. It's a pretty limiting lens when it comes to speed. A d600 with a 50mm 1.4 or 1.8 would be a much better combo and you really wouldn't be losing much.

Thanks! One thing I can't figure out is smoothness. My pictures are insanely hi-res and 300 DPI but when I work with them in my editing program, it seems like I can slightly see tiny, fine dots. Maybe I'm too picky or the quality is reduced after uploading to photobucket then linking on here?

50 mm is a little limiting in small space.

It can be for sure. Maybe get a 24mm f2.8 or something too? I just know that I would much rather be limited by space than by a 3.5-4.5 aperture. Also consider the D700. With the release of the D600 and the D800, it has dropped the price of it. There is no comparison to the build of it when stacked next to the 600.

Are you trying any noise reduction? Are you saving them in and uploading as 300 dpi? I always upload to photobucket at 72 dpi. Another thing I am uncertain of about photobucket recently is the resolution of the uploads. Before they switched over to the "new look", you could choose what max size of resolution to upload. With that previous version, if you had a setting for lower resolution than the uploading picture, it would degrade the final result shown on the site.

I have many older uploads that don't look as good as they should due to this setting not being right at time of upload.

I'm ready to give up on photobucket. With the recent changes, you can't even click on the picture to view the full size. It's all done in slideshows now. Shortly here I'm going to make a migration over to SmugMug.

Yah your definitely dealing with "noise" which can be reduced in post=process as already mentioned. Keep in mind though that noise reduction will reduce the sharpness of your image so it's kind of a trade off. Try shooting at the lowest ISO setting possible to help keep your photo noise to a minimum.

FWIW I've been using flickr from the beginning and have always been extremely happy with the quality of my images hosted their. I export them directly from LR4 to flickr and it couldn't be easier!

I couldn't agree more. I've used it for years and this recent update absolutely sucks all around. Windows 8 isn't even this bad . . .

That was part of the reason why I do all my own hosting. It really doesn't cost much t o have your own website and really isn't that hard to build and maintain.

Or of course if there is some interest, I could do another gallery and make some separate login's for those that want hosting.

I need to do that. I have a Flickr account for personal stuff, but all of my work goes through my brother's company and that is mainly film. I do have my own business license for my photo stuff though.
