Funny that all of you are talking about bags/slings. I have a Dakine camera block that I bought a few years ago and it has served me well as its very basic and it holds most of my gear. However, it sucks for trips when I want/need to pack light or have my camera easily accessible. Today I was in Calgary (went to a Flames game last night) and stopped at one of the big camera stores. I ended up walking out the door with the ThinkTank Digital Holster 20 v2.0. (Digital Holster 20 V2.0) I was actually looking at a couple LowPro slings but this one seemed to suite my needs. I thought the extension area is pretty cool for when I run a bigger lens, it came with a rain fly which I did not expect, also some good random pockets for other small items.

I'll be honest though, I bought this bag as a solution for taking photos while I'm in my truck. I wanted something I could hang off of the gear selector into the passenger floorboard. Now my GF or my passenger seat doesn't have to have "camera holding duty". I'll post some pics of it all set up in a couple days and hopefully some feedback after some use.

Thanks Jared! I've already contemplated getting it printed and I may just do that, although with the noise I'm seeing at this small size, it may not look so pretty blown up. I'll have to play with the NR a little.

I had the ISO set to auto and was shooting at f/4.0 just to get the shot. It was super in my room and all the lights were on. Kinda wish Suri (the foremost dog) was in focus a little more f/7 or 8 woulda been nice but wasn't possible. Just thinking out loud, still happy with the shot but I feel analyzing your own work helps your next shots to be even better!

I like that Suri is blurry. The other dogs expression is so great that it helps your eyes go straight to it. And one thing you could do if you can't get a handle on the noise is to do the opposite. Bump it up a bit and try to give it a vintage '20's look.

Completely agree with the self-criticism. The key is to not get too nit picky when editing and know when it's good enough. When time spent going over it more isn't worth it. I'm still very much learning that. Then after that, pick it apart and learn from it.

Just to be clear. These are NOT photos taken by me. Full credit goes to Alexey Kljatov. These were taken with a Canon Powershot compact camera. Perfect example of how you don't need the best and greatest equipment all the time in order to get some stunning results. A little ingenuity and creativity can go a long way. Article below.

These shots were taken with a my dads d-90. I've been doing some research trying to find which dslr I should buy for my first. I started off with a gopro lol but now I'd like to have something that can take great stills. The gopro takes great wide angle photo's and great video but you cant mess around with settings. I'm thinking a canon 60d for its video capabilities. If anyone has suggestions for a starter that would be super helpful.

Wow those snowflake shot are UNREAL. That is so cool....

I took a couple photos of my new ThinkTank holster today. Just thought I would show everyone what it looks like and give my initial impression. Build quality is fantastic and all of the incorporated gadgets like the rain cover are awesome.

I mentioned I wanted to hang this off the gear selector but with my Ipad there it kind of interfered, so I came up with an alternate position which I think is going to work better. It keeps the camera out of the front seat/passenger area while still providing quick access and storage for the camera. I'm looking forward to testing it "on the trail" next time I'm out.

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and figured I would tell a little about myself and what I shoot with. I shoot a 7D with a 24-105 f/4 and a 70-200 f/2.8 IS1. I just recently switched from a Nikon to a Canon and haven't looked back since. I loved my Nikon but my Canon is so much simpler for me to shoot with and the body is AWESOME! I look forward to sharing some of my photos and seeing all of yours.

How do you guys feel about tripods?

I should've asked this question last Monday since I just dropped a few bucks on a new one. But I'm happy with it so far so we'll see... I can also still return it if you convince me that I don't like it.

What do you guys like? Not asking for a huge debate, just who uses what, specs you look for when shopping for one, etc.

I picked up a Sirui N-2004 & K-10X ballhead to replace my much cheaper Vanguard Alta 223CP. The new one is Al and the old one was CF. I'm still thinking about returning it for the CF version but it's a lot of extra dough to pony up.

Either way I really like the features of the model, it also easily converts to a monopod and the legs fold back 180 degrees to decrease the closed size when needed.

I've heard a lot of good things about Giottos and Manfrotto, but they seem very expensive and I can't spend that much. I'm also not exactly sure what the huge difference is, as this new one I got looks and feels extremely well made.
