Here are some recent pics from the last couple of weeks...

The ground in this one really pissed me off...came out real dark...but not dark enough to allow it to just go away.



This guy was pretty far away...couldn't believe it came out as good as it did with my zoom hand-held.

You should just set your lens to infinity for the focus. Infinity is the symbol on the lens that looks like a figure 8, but some lenses don't show it on the barrel. If it does show it, your lens may go past it a touch (a lot of lenses do, but some stop right at infinity). If it goes past it, hopefully it has a line showing you where infinity focus actually is, but sometimes getting it right in the middle of the infinity symbol is all you can do if they don't give you a line.

I don't have an infinity symbol on my lens. Any other suggestions? I just tried experimenting until I got the cleanest shot I could which was still a little blurry.

Anyone have any good sites to have my photos printed on canvas? I have used canvas pop up until now and they do a great job but there are limitations on custom sizes and I am trying to have this printed and it is an odd size (for a reasonable price):

Was nice to see this thread. I am pretty big into photography myself. Mostly portraiture, but like to play around with landscape every once in a while.

Did anyone see that the Lightroom 5 beta is now out? I have LR4 and Photoshop CS6, so I'm not real sure I will be upgrading to it.

I have a portrait of my son that I will be printing on canvas with White House Custom Colour. I use them to get all of my prints. My clients love them.

Hey guys, anyone want to give me some advice on where to go with my gear?

I've been shooting with my D3100 for about 4 months now, shutter count at a little over 3k, so basically brand new. Anyways, the LCD is already acting up, it will just freak with strange lines and colors and will eventually become useless , then I will come back to it later and it will work just fine. It's obviously under warranty but I do not want to wait 4 weeks to get it back. I like taking photos too much and I don't have a back up body. and hell, when they get it, it will probably work fine and they will send it right back. I just have a lot of stuff coming up that I have been looking forward to photographing like my trip to Moab in a few weeks.

I'm starting to consider just buying a better camera and selling the D3100 later this summer when it's fixed..

Then there's the question of which body to move up to. I want something with more AF points (I currently only have 11), a faster fps (D3100 shoots only 3 fps max), and better low light performance. A D7000 would be an amazing upgrade from what I have. I think it would take me years to grow out of.

I found one on eBay with a mint condition 14-24 2.8 lens for 2300. If you know of this lens or own it, you'll probably agree that's a reasonable price for the combo. This is a lens I've been dreaming of trying with my nighttime long exposures. And it also won't become useless if I ever move up to an FX body in the future.

What do you guys think, am I getting ahead of myself looking at this high end gear? I'm just getting sick if this camera and it's garbage kit lens.
