wow ive missed a lot... been away for a while now, my computer took a dump on me -my fault, it got dusty, i tried to clean it and touched something to the mother-board and its just stopped working, i think all my stuff on the hard drive is safe(i hope) but im just gonna need to get it back and working again so untill then i have no place to edit my pics or even down/up load them from the camera to here or any where... sad, sniff sniff :tsk:

Looking good! Did you end up getting the lenses you mentioned earlier too?
Ouch. You're photos should be fine. If your computer is f'd, just yank the HD out and throw it into an external case. They're cheap.
I'm on my way to sell my D700 (Person seems serious. They're driving 2 hrs to look at it). I don't want to see it go! :cry2:

Thanks man! I went with the body with the 18-105 kit lens. Found the set on ebay brand new for 1000 so I couldn't pass that up. The other lens I got is the Tokina 11-16 2.8 It should be a fun lens!

You know how it's hard to take a landscape without the sky being super overexposed? this is the easiest way to fix that. Take three frames of the same exact thing on a tripod, one frame normally exposed, one frame 1 stop underexposed and one frame 1 stop overexposed. My D7000 has a bracketing function that takes care of the exposure changes for me so I don't have to touch the camera and mess the position up. I just hold my shutter remote down and it takes three photos. Here's the video on how to blend them in Lightroom with the Enfuse plugin. He only uses 2 frames, but the three I described work well.

i see, so it's more for still photo that needs a tripod, not for action shots. i will give it a try when i go to asian this summer, there will be TONS TONS of pictures, little preview of where im going.

You take 3-5 photos at different exposure values and combine them.
Never been a huge fan. The LC photo in my album seems to be HDR, tho.

Haven't been able to take any photos because my D300 is at the hospital for front focusing issues. I'm guessing the old rig just loosened up over age based on lens calibration photos I've taken two years ago.
Which sucks because I have a new Sigma 35mm 1.4 sitting on my table and nothing to attach it to.

I've been worried that my D7000 might front or back focus. supposedly a lot of the D7000s do.

Get an 3D object with lots of contrast (box of cereal, bottle, etc) and put it in the middle of a table. Get a tape measure and put about .5 yards behind it and about 1 yard in front of it. 1 yard for a 35 mm lens... .75 for 50mm
Put camera on tripod and focus on the object at wide open aperture (make sure it's set on single point focus and use the center point to focus on it) also make sure it's set to "S" and use ISO 100.
Take a picture of the object.
If it's front focusing, the yard stick in front of the object will be in focus, behind if backfocusing.
In-camera calibration can adjust for this (from about -20 to +20), but mine was front focusing so much that I was at +20 and still a bit in front of the cereal box.
The D300 has a rudimentary live view, but with your D7k it'll be easy to tell if it's front focusing/back focusing just by comparing AF from live view and from the viewfinder (and not some settings you buggered up).
DOF will make up for most of this at apertures of 5-6 and above, but 1.4 and 1.8 and if you want good bokeh it becomes imperative.
