I was watching what canon 40d would go for. The picture on the left is my email telling me the auction is almost over. After the auction I clicked on the email, you can see it on the right.

So Canon 40D with Canon EF 28-135mm lens sells for $405 on the open market. That should give you some idea of the camera your are looking at. Last time I checked the 40D was better than a rebel.

Might be better to save my $ then, and get a used 40D...

The guy is sticking by his guns with $350 - since the body of the Rebel is $300 new (claims his is really nice) and the lens itself is $160. So to him, it is already a really good deal. I don't blame him.

I don't know what is better for your money.

I own a canon 40D and wanted to sell mine. So, I did the ebay thing I told.

If you have an ebay account type in a whole bunch of cameras you like.

This is great place to start. ( he is bias towards nikon, still good easy reading )

The recent shots are with a Canon 5D Mark III with a 17-40, 24-105, or 70-200 lens. The rest are with my previous camera which was a Canon 7D with 15-85 and 70-200. All of the exif data is viewable on my website for each photo. Click on a photo and then click on the 'Info' tab on the top right corner of the window; you'll be able to see the camera/lens info as well as the exposure data.

95% of my editing is done in Lightroom. If I think a photo needs a little more sharpening I'll open it up in Photoshop and use the High Pass Filter.

Another good way is to select the "complete listings". That will pull up all current auctions as well as recently finished ones under the same search. Shows you exactly how much some have gone for without having to wait for an auction to finish.

And as for Ken Rockwell. Take a lot of what he has to say with a grain of salt. He makes money from his site by people going to the stores he recommends and buying things. He constantly contradicts himself. This is the best lens, no this one. I never touch that, oh wait I touch that all the time. You can use it to get some base information, but I wouldn't use it for more than that.

How do you do it? I typed in "canon 40D". Clicked on complete listings. I did not see any sold cameras.

Very cool. I just saw the green one that says buy it now. After your pose I now see the other green for 17 bids at $321.

Your way is much better than waiting days like I have been. Cool tip.

So I'm getting a new camera for graduation and am trying to decide between the D7100 & D600. Just trying to decide if FF is worth it. The only non-kit lens I have is a 35mm f/1.8 DX lens and an older 70-300mm ED lens (non AF-S non VR). If I get the D600 that's all I get and can't get any more lenses, but if I pick the D7100 I have enough $ for a new 70-300 AF-S VR lens (or something else comparable in price).

I've been comparing and reading reviews online all day and went to the local camera store and handled the two. The D7100 has a few nicer features (51pts of AF, higher res screen, and more movie modes to name a few) but the D600 is FF.

What do you all think? Get the D7100 and a new VR 70-300mm lens, or is full frame really worth the extra $$? I don't do a whole lot of low light shooting (unless its long exposure night shots)

I'd like to start doing a lot of landscape shooting and also shoot a lot of auto racing. I am pretty set on the D7100 and a new lens but am curious what others think.

Eastern Oregon?

Yes and no.
It is Denio Junction. Just over the border in Nevada from Oregon. I am sitting on Hwy 140 that goes from Lakeview Oregon To Winnemucca.
But I came from the North, Steens mountain, Alvord desert, to Fields Oregon to Denio Junction, to Bog Hot springs. I took the picture coming back from Bog's.
