Nice shots! I see you're already experimenting with the manual modes, took me a bit longer. ND filters definitely help with waterfalls, I'm waiting on my new one to come in now. I finally replaced my last kit lens last week so I got rid of the filters I'd accumulated.

Speaking of, for those interested I picked up the Sigma 17-70 f/2.8-4 Contemporary. I'd like to have been able to spend more, but I also didn't want to spend this much... It took me a while to narrow it down between this, the Sigma EX 17-50 f/2.8 and the Nikkor 16-85 f/3.5-5.6 but in the end this won out due to reviews, f, focal range, and the FLD glass. The Nikkor 17-55 f/2.8 was $1400 (with no VR!?) so it was out of the question.


It's not a true macro, but can focus at 8" from the sensor across the focal range. This amounts to about 2-3" from the tip of the lens at 70mm.

That seems like money well spent to me. Those came out awesome and I like the watermark lol.

Thanks, I've been toying with the watermark and I think I like it too.

I've never used those, but see that many others do. I can't really comment on what to look for though. I've used some close-up filters and they seemed to work pretty well with my kit lens.

We have a set of macro tubes for my GF's NEX but have never used em.

Hopefully some other members will comment on that, as I believe they are popular. Just never used em myself.

Here are some of my favorite shots of fall colors from the last few years. The first few are on Independence Pass, the snowy ones are by Westcliff and the last one is Grand Lake looking towards Mt Baldy.

I love taking photographs but not into photoshop. My favorite thing to photograph is lightning, we don't get too much in Colorado but when we do I am out there!! I threw in a lightning one too :jump:

A place you could just sit all day long. What kind of wildlife do you see? Any bald eagles?

Tons of places like that!! I've only seen one bald eagle. The deer are on my street at least once a week....elk, moose, beaver, fox, bobcat, coyote, bear, hawks, antelope, buffalo, owls, raccoons, osprey.....these are ones that I can think of that I have seen. I would love to see a mountain lion, in the wild from my truck!!

Where did you live when you were here? And I must say I love your grille!! Sucks I have an 04 and that seems to be one of the years thats really hard to make one for.

Thanks!!! I love lightning its the most interesting thing mother nature has to offer. I sit in the back of my Runner with the tripod so Im safe....my husband doesnt like me doing it he wants to take out a life insurance policy on me HA. Some year I want to travel and storm chase :driving:

Canon 24-105 F4L
Canon 70-200 F4L

A polarizing filter will be your best friend during the fall. Here are two pictures both completely unedited taken about 30 seconds apart. The first one is without a polarizer, the second is with.

It'll also help get rid of reflections on water so you can see the rocks below it. It's very rare that my polarizer comes off my camera during the day in the fall.
