A polarizing filter will be your best friend during the fall. Here are two pictures both completely unedited taken about 30 seconds apart. The first one is without a polarizer, the second is with.

It'll also help get rid of reflections on water so you can see the rocks below it. It's very rare that my polarizer comes off my camera during the day in the fall.

I just finished a trip to southern Maine too and bought a polarizer for my new lens, very glad I did.

ok guys, im gonna ask your opinion here on a couple photos, im entering them into a contest for a calendar, i can only enter two. im having trouble deciding on my second pic. i know one of the photos im gonna enter(i was told and encouraged to enter that one so i guess that one is set, i just dont know what to do for my other photo. so im gonna get your opinions here. let me know thanks.

I'd go with the first one just because it's color. I think a calendar would be more likely to choose a color photo over a black and white. That said, I think I slightly prefer the B&W. I'm curious if you have a color version of that one.

I like the third photo a lot.

How does the color version of the second photo look? The first photo is also good!

Count me in with the color version. The red contrast with the green helps take your eye to your rig. You sort of lose it when you go B&W.

I think all of those pictures look amazing!!! Great job. I think I like the first photo better... I think the stream looks really cool plus you have more of a landscape. Any one you chose though will be a good submission.

Had some fun with a fish-eye. I took a chance and bought a Bower 8mm fish-eye lens, and I have to say I'm impressed with it. The clarity and color it produces are very nice to my unprofessional eye.

The following pix are from Devil's Lake State Park in Wisconsin. All were shot with a Canon T3i and the Bower 8mm. The apertures listed are educated guesses as the Bower is a manual lens and does not communicate with the camera.

ISO 100 f5.6 or 8 shutter 1/60th tripod used

ISO 100 f 5.6 or 8 shutter 1/200th handheld

ISO 100 f 8 or 11 shutter 1/200th handheld

These were tweaked in Lightroom some. There was some noticeable chromatic aberration in the first two, but Lightroom took care of most of it. I'm not sure if that is because of the cheap lens or is the effect of manipulating exposure, or something else. Again, I'm not a pro.

Am I the only one that see's the skull in the center of the first picture?? Must be how the park got its name. The shot of the leaves is gorgeous :thumb3:
