how are the long exposures not blown out??

Small apertures and you can also stack photos.




Been shamefully a while since I've actually taken some photos. Been stuck behind the computer doing mostly editing work lately.

how are the long exposures not blown out??

for which pics? long exp at night are hard to blow out unless you leave the shutter open too long (45secs+)
during the day you can use ND filters and do long exp w/o blowing them out

Hmm, never tried an HDR with that much separation in exposure. Usually I only separate by +/-1 EV. Do you do this often, or did it just lend better to this lighting/photo?

There are some lights in the night shots, wouldn't those blow them out? The ski lift photo in particular.

ive never tried only doing +/-1 before. always done 2-3 EV. and put together in photomatix. im not in to the cartoony ones so i leave must sliders alone

broncosi ive never had an issue. its far too dark out to really worry about that. if theres a lot of extra light pollution possibly but in that case you just change exp time down but at night 20-30secs you should be ok

None.

Teh intertubes is much MUCH better.

The photo magazines have devolved into pure advertising sheets (some ads are labeled as ads and some are labeled as reviews).

Agreed. Some of them have decent articles once in a while, but most of them are distributed by the same publisher which means you see some of the same reviews/ads/articles in all of them.

I like Outdoor Photographer. AZ Highways is another that has great imagery and they throw photo tips in there too.

aw thank you.
its a single shot. well i took 3-4 that night but this one turned out the best. i had a few of it head-on but they didnt look as good.
its something new ive been wanting to try so ill def get out and try some more.
[MENTION=75328]DannyLlama[/MENTION] i agree with others, mags are filled with ads and very little helpful info. honestly i get the most info from podcasts in iTunes. i sub to lightroom, photoshop and photograpy podcasts.

None of the print ones are good. They are all just advertisements. Photolife and BW (think it's BW+Color now) were ok in the past.

I would recommend an online magazine from craft & vision called Photograph. No advertisements and great content. It's quarterly and pdf.

this pic looks like its not level, but its just an optical illusion, the railing is coming back at you, as well as the shore line on the right hand side...

only if your a complete bumbling moron or have crapy lens, or have more money that you can shake a stick at... that little UV filter will save some spendy glass, ask me how i know

This was my point. Pictures forthcoming, but my GF dropped my camera and my polarized shattered but the lens is OK, thank God. I was so scared when I saw that...
