its not exactly straight. i converted it to b&w then masked out the sky and the yellow leaving the whole inside of the bus b&w. otherwise the bus windows had too much tint/color to it and didnt look good.

Side thought, I've been thinking of putting together a photo book of 4R's

What do you call a "photo book"? The great majority of the images on this forum have been resized for the computer screen, they are too low-resolution to be printed in meaningful sizes.
Legality-wise, it depends on what do you want to do with that photo book. If you just want to make one and put it on your coffee table you're pretty much in the clear. If you want to distribute it, though, legal things change...

Which podcasts do you find you get most information from?
Eventually, maybe something I can publish. I would have to reach out to some of the members for the original photos and some sort of agreement of course.

benefits to living a little further away from the city...you get to see the stars. im about 15 miles SE of downtown Denver and have very little light pollution. this was taken from 6-7pm last night from my patio. just set up my camera while cooking some dinner

Just wanted to get some opinions on a new camera. I've been on the fence on getting a new camera for a while, and I am finally ready to pull the trigger.
I have narrowed it down to one I really like, the Nikon 7100.
What do all of you prosumers (you pros too) think of this camera? Any suggestions on a couple of lenses to start with?
I will be using it for all sorts or purposes, indoor/outdoor/day-night (really looking to get some really good low light/night stuff)

I don't know anything about it first-hand, but I hear it's a great camera. Do you plan on staying in the DX format? If so, get the DX 35mm f1.8. Amazing lens for the money. I would also avoid any variable aperture lenses. I'm also not super familiar with the line of DX lenses, but I know there's quite a few guys here who are.
If you do plan on stepping up to an FX camera at some point, invest in FX glass.

I've had the D7100 for about 6 months now and love it. I'm still not even coming close to using its full potential. Definitely grab a 35mm 1.8. I've also got a 70-300mm that I take a lot of car racing photos with (just got back from Formula 1). I just recently picked up an 11-16mm tokina f2.8 wide angle but haven't played with it much. GentryGoon on here has the lense too with a D7000 and has produced some amazing shots.

Yes, do not plan on going FX. I'm just climbing out of my pretty simple Sony DSC-H1. I am going to have this new camera a long time. I am also considering taking a photography class to help me utilize my new rig to its fullest!

Cool. The one lens you might consider getting in an FX format is a zoom lens. For example, the 70-200mm f2.8 (or for under half the price, the 80-200mm f2.8). If you have that on your 7100, it's going to be an even better zoom at 105-300mm because of the DX sensor.

I think with the snow, the high shutter speed works better. With it low, it looks like an icefall, where with it high and when you look at the larger version, you can tell that it's a moving waterfall.

Nikon 1 AW1 Rugged / Underwater Camera
Not sure if this is a repeat but I just picked up a Nikon 1 AW1 camera yesterday.
For those that aren't familiar it is a CX format sensor (1'') which is about a 2.7x crop factor compared to full frame. The AW1 is fully submersible up to 15m (49ft) and is also shockproof / freeze proof. I bought this to compliment my D60 as I find that I don't take my SLR out of the bag as much in situations where there is water involved or it is too bulky to bring. I was looking for a high quality Under water point and shoot and they really don't exist. Image quality is just not a priority with that class of camera. Although I haven't had enough time with the new camera to get a feel for it yet I am hopeful that it will bridge the SLR P&S gap and give me a chance to take some cool underwater shots. Everything I saw online impressed me as far as image quality, and my first impressions have done nothing to change that. The difference between this and an entry level LR is not enough that your average person will notice or care, and it has the huge plus of being waterproof. I will post some pic's and further impressions as I play around with the camera.
pro's: Fully waterproof, better images that any P&S I have encountered. 2 waterproof lenses and many more non waterproof available, feels nice in the hand, more portable than typical SLR
con's: Average low light performance with P&S level pop up flash, still much larger than P&S, Nikon 1 system always has rumors that nikon will abandon it, spendy camera compared to other 1 system cameras, somewhat limited availability, very few buttons most settings are accessed through menus. Not always a bad thing but certain things are hard to get to (ISO)
Summary: If you are outdoorsy type and want something that is better than a point and shoot but aren't willing to risk an SLR this may be the camera for you.
