Yeah, there's no way I'd go with photbucket either. I'm probably looking at either 500px or Smugmug. So far 500px let me sign in using my Google account. Haven't looked at Smugmug, but they store everything on Amazon AWS which I like.

Yeah, I was going to take a Lightroom course until I started checking out Youtube tutorials. Digital Photography School usually links some good ones. Tried Aperture as well, but I came back to Lightroom since it seemed as though Apple stopped doing any new development on it.

These are nothing special - just some shots i took during work today. No post (except i removed someone's name from somewhere). But no lightroom or anything. I think they got re-sized even smaller when they upload to this site. I usually use a crappy point n shoot but since i just got an X100S, i figured what the heck. Had it set on full auto using the Vivid (Velvia) setting. Also, since this was for work, i had it set on the smallest size image setting. Even with this, the colors came out ...um, well - what do you think?

yes on the Lightroom. especially now that you can find LR5 for around $100. great for basic and some advanced editing.

Solid State hard drives? Anyone?
I'm using two, one for personal and one for labs. They are freaking awesome. I've got a Intel 530 240GB that I picked up for $150 at Amazon. Editing photos on this thing is sooooo much faster. The i7 doesn't hurt as well.

Gotta love the SSDs, I'm running a 120GB Crucial M500 for OSX, applications, and large items I'm working on. It's incredible how much it boosted the speed compared to just upping the RAM. Haven't clocked it lately, but when I first put it in startup was boosted from ~1:30 to 0:31. I have a 1TB HDD in my optical bay for most other storage.
[MENTION=78892]FR4R[/MENTION] and anyone else thinking about getting Lightroom or joining the Creative Cloud deal, the CC photog program (lightroom, photoshop, and bridge) is $10/mo through the end of March. They keep extending it so it may not matter but just thought I'd mention it so if your trial runs out April 2nd or something you don't end up spending more because you waited 2 days.

Do you guys think it will be replacing conventional DSLR's using Mirrors? Kind of like film was replaced by digital?

There have been a few articles lately saying that the end of the DSLR is coming soon to be replaced by mirrorless. I guess maybe some enthusiasts may go that route, but most pros will probably stick to DSLR. Continuous autofocus on mirrorless just isn't anywhere near what it is on DSLR, so anyone who shoots sports - even parents taking pics of their kid's soccer game - are better off with DSLR. I also doubt that a lot of people with a heavy investment in glass for their DSLR will rush to switch. Sure there are adapters out there, but if you're using something like a 70-200 or larger then the size/weight savings of a mirrorless body become void and the body won't balance the lens as well.
I've got a D600 and A7, and while I like them both one won't entirely replace the other. If I'm going to be walking around all day then I'll probably pick the A7 with a prime because it's much smaller and lighter but gives me the same image quality as the D600 (same sensor). If I'm stationary or in my truck then I've got the D600 and a few lenses with me. I also have a Nikon AW1 mirrorless that I only use when I'm fishing since it's fully waterproof. On a typical day of fishing I might walk several kilometres so the light weight also helps a lot. I tried taking my DSLR fishing once and swore never again. So I guess I see mirrorless as just being another option instead of a full replacement.

I got my GF an NEX-5 when they first came out, it's a great camera and has the same sensor size as my D5000. Truth be told, I only bought it because I didn't think she'd like photography and it was small (so if she didn't get into taking photos she could at least use it as a P&S). Now we both wish I'd waited and gotten the NEX-7, with a viewfinder, or just got her a DX so we could share lenses; 3 lenses each would be 4-5 nicer lenses if we shared.
The quality is great though, higher resolution and clarity than mine, fast shutter speed (7 fps), several 'neat' auto modes for beginners, and obviously the size is nice.
The downfalls (for her/us) are the previously mentioned lack of viewfinder, slow startup, short battery life, lack of hard controls for changing modes and settings, and lack of available lenses. Some of these would be resolved if I'd gotten the NEX-7 or a more recent model though.

You can share the link directly from flickr and embed it in the post. The picture looks nice to me, but I dunno if t4r's hosting site is as good as flickr's. I'm only using a 13" macbook screen so it may look better or worse on others' larger/better screens.
On mine, I click the little Share button (square with an arrow coming out) and "Grab the HTML/BB Code" then pick a resolution and share that here. I usually delete all the crap before and after the img tags so it doesn't post the extra text/links.

I think Sony is going to drive the entire industry to full frame within 5 years.
I don't see consumers caring about mirorless or mirror but the availability of full frame cameras for $1200 (Price of D7100 @ 3/4 frame) is coming within 5 years.
