**Photography Talk**

Both of those shots are heavily photoshopped - each one is like 4 or 5 different images, tons of adjustments etc.

I don't know how to use photoshop except to put a copyright on an image.

I wish I could find my memory cards in storage so I could share my lightning shots.

Thank you for sharing that information.
A lot of photographers don't like to admit how much post processing went into their photos. At the end of the day, most photographers are simply trying to paint the image they captured in their mind, so its not a bad thing.

Did some close ups for my photography class, feel free to critique

That's how I see it - I'll post up some pics showing the layers at some point, but yeah, I had an image in my head and made it with material sourced from google. Most of my stuff is processed and now that i'm learning CS6 I like to incorporate those techniques into the processing. It's great to be able to remove background stuff that you don't want and perform local adjustments. I'm doing a series for my final project for this class where i'm taking iconic americana type post cards like mount Rushmore and doing similar things to them like I did with the above, making like a hellscape. Hopefully it will be cool.

one of my photos was on the explore page of flickr this week. pretty exciting. over 4,000 views in one day.

this is the pic that made it:

Thats a stellar shot of Garden of the Gods looking north considering 99% of the photos you see out there are shot from the tiny road just below the left center of the shot looking south. Very creative thinking outside the box!!

Here is my most favoritest shot. 100% unedited except resizing it to post it here. It was the perfect place at the perfect time. I had the tripod on a picnic table so thank God I didn't get zapped, after that strike and I saw on the screen I had caught it I was screaming, there was a guy riding his bike staring at me.

This day was packed full of storms, one right after another. A few hours earlier I caught 3 strikes in one shot.

Sony NEX-5T

Just picked up a Sony NEX-5T, planning on getting a lot of camping/wheeling/scenery shots in the coming months. Hopefully they'll be half as good as the stuff in this thread!

I got into photography to capture images of places I've been.
