Thanks, this was actually my first attempt at this type of photography, but I did do some researching on settings and such before I went. It also took several attempts with different settings until I got the effect I was looking for.

Gear I used Canon 6D and an EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM. Settings were set at 1/100 sec @ f/11, ISO 100. Getting focus is the hard part. Some say use manual, but I eventually started to use autofocus and focused on either the door or the passenger. Use burst mode to increase your chance at getting a better photo. I also used lightroom to clean it up a little.

Here's a freeze shot I did of a BMW M3. Setting was 1/2000 sec @ f/2.8, ISO 100.

Thanks for the info! Yeah, I think my autofocus just picks sometimes... so I will probably just use center. Should have played more with settings!

I use a D7000 and had an old 70-210F4 that works well for me.

My stills turned out quite a bit better, but I still love the creamy background to show the motion!

These are awesome! I'm jealous of your trip! I went this fall and it was gray skis the whole weekend! But I recognize all those places! Such a beautiful place

It could be the angle you're shooting from. Looks like you're a little higher up and it doesn't show any background that can blur real good.

Here are a couple from last Saturday, on an annual stop at Grand Canyon National Park, en route to Phoenix to spend Christmas with my folks.

Stayed in a cabin at Bright Angel Lodge; trekked from the cabin up The Rim Trail to Powel Memorial (between Maricopa Point and Hopi Point):

After shooting the above pic, I turned 120 degrees to my left and had this to shoot:

Planned to get up the next morning early (5am) and hike to Mather Point for sunrise. Awoke at 4:45am, wind howling and snow flying! A couple hours later, after skipping sunrise, I drove to Mather Point on my way out of the park. Three to four inches of snow covered the roads, the canyon walls close-in were awash with snow...

I am back, didn't forget about this forum just very busy.

Winter is being rough on my photography as of late, working dark to dark wouldn't be too bad if it wasn't snowing and overcast constantly :sobbing:

On another note, I am working with a local snowboard shop (World Boards if anyone is interested) to get my photography on next years Mountain Slayer (the special edition board only at that shop). Hoping it goes though! Got till May to come up with designs. If anyone has suggestions on how I should do a collage let me know, making a photo collage is surprisingly hard for me.

Here are a few designs I threw together today as starting points and a shot of the runner from today as well.

I also just got my first real camera! I was in awe at the pictures I saw here and it made me want to join the fun. So I just picked up a Nikon D3300 for what I think was a pretty good deal. It was a bundle that included the camera, 18-55 lens, 55-200 lens, bag and wireless mobile adapter.

So what do you guys think, a good way to start out??

I didn't want something overly complicated and this one seemed like the best way to go based off some articles I read.

just kidding. you cant really go wrong with most brands now. all about the same, just little differances.
smart to just start small. make sure you enjoy it. learn. and if you get in to it you can upgrade down the line. the great thing about them is they hold their value very well. as long as you take care of your gear you wont lose much money

Thanks for the input! I've done nothing but push every button on it for the last 2 hours! This thing is pretty amazing compared to what I'm used to using.
