+1 on the Wasabi batteries. i have them for my GoPro 4.
i didn't find any for my 6 when i first started searching for batteries. the ones i have now, work good. so far no failures after a year of use

Well, I finally bit the bullet and started selling off my Canon gear for Fuji gear. Picked up a Fuji XT-2, 16 1.4, and 35 1.4 for a decent price. I'm loving how light this setup is and the color out of the Fuji is incredible.

Just found this thread! This is awesome! I'm completely new to photography, just got a camera for christmas. It's just the basic Canon rebel t6 kit that came with a 18-55, and a 70-300 I believe. Still learning but cant wait to share and learn from you guys!

Why are there no decent cameras that can shoot better slow motion video than my iPhone??

I've been doing some slo-mo nature video using my iPhone, which shoots continuous 1080p at 120fps. I wanted to get a camera that could do better than that, at least 240fps. But so far I haven't seen any with that capability.

One of the cameras rated highest for slow motion is the Sony RX100 VA. I tried it. Turns out that the slow motion is not true 1080p, it's scaled up from something less. Worse yet, you're limited to just 4 seconds of shooting, then it spends a minute or two "saving" the recording. What good is that when you're trying to get video of a butterfly taking off, and have no idea how long he's going to sit there before doing something? I expected better from a $900 camera.

None of the other cameras I've looked at online are any better, and most are worse. Even some very expensive cameras don't go any faster than 120fps.

have you looked at GoPro's? the Hero 7 black shoots 1080 at 240fps. I have used it multiple times for my dog, but honestly I have done nothing with the footage. its still on my camera

Not sure how she did it, but I know she uses that camera. RX100 V ( no A in the one she lists )

Go to 58:40 The butterfly clip runs 58:44 thru 58:51 which is 7 seconds of actual video. Again I don't know how she set it up or if more was done in post.

I was reading about that camera a while back. Never could really figure the super slo out. I was thinking it was 720p but I don't recall the 4 sec deal.

I've seen her other slo-mo cuts and they are all pretty short but never timed them.

Again not sure how they do that if you only get 4 seconds?

ETA: I think I figured out the 4 second deal. The camera has two settings Start or End. If you pick END, when you hit the shutter it will capture the previous 4 seconds. So you wait until the butterfly flies away then press the button and you now have it taking flight.

It comes down to scaling, detail and processing. The information scale difference on a single frame of something shot at a high FPS on a GoPro vs say the cameras we shoot on (Cannon C300's) is immense. It's such a specialized thing that you have to sacrifice something in order to get it.

If you see something done commercially with high-speed shooting (and I mean a FPS well above the 120 range), odds are they are using a very specific camera for that shot.

Seeing as how I'm trying to be back on the forums a little more again and keeping up with my build thread, I thought I would stop by.

My brother and I own a small Creative Agency and do commercial videography/photography work. We recently purchased some vintage 1970's Canon FD prime lenses (24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, 135mm). We then sent them away and had them converted to EF mounts with focus puller rings. Similar internals on these things to the modern day Canon Cine glass which is hella $$$$$$$$. They are more suited for video work but they do have a ton of character. The coating on the 35mm is also unreal and gives some great lens flare.

I am excited to give this a try for astrophotography. does anyone have any experience with this?

I haven't been posting much cause my flickr account is in limbo while I decide if I want to get pro account or stay with the free one.
