**Photography Talk**

Thank you! Thankfully I am actually working from home and my wife has a very short walk to her school shuttle. The humidity so far as been about 50/50 split between really nice days and days that are extremely muggy and unpleasant. I have been to the Shenandoah national park in the fall a couple years back and it was spectacular, definitely looking forward to that again. Funny thing is about the bike, I have already had one stolen within the first week of being here. I have now gotten a different beater bike and also much better locks for both of our bikes. Here is to hoping they stay around a bit longer than 1 week.

Dammit, Baltimore! Having a bike stolen the first week is terrible. They will steal the wheels off a bike that is chained, so some people use extra long or multiple locks if they have to leave it for a long time. They'll steal your seat post if your saddle looks decent (especially if it's on a quick release).

If you make it down to Annapolis (which I highly recommend), the Naval Academy is a great place to visit. You can walk in the rotunda at Bancroft Hall and walk over to the Chapel. On the other side of the USNA bridge, you can walk the Greenbury Point trail; it's about two miles, lightly trafficked, and has views across the water of the bay bridge and the Academy.

If I was going back to Annapolis for a day, I'd eat at Ceremony Coffee for breakfast (the poached egg toast is worth a long drive for, and their coffees and espressos are excellent), The Boatyard in Eastport for lunch (crabcake sandwich is one of the best you'll ever have-don't let someone tell you Phillips is the greatest), and Lemongrass on West Street for dinner (Pad ka Pow with a fried egg on top). If you're feeling fancy, the Chart House is cool for waterfront drinks and Lewnes across the street is the best steak in town. Galway Bay on Maryland Avenue for pints if you have any steam left.

Haha yeah it was rough but that is why my bikes while I am out here are about $50, making my locks worth more than the bike LOL. We both have a U lock and a cable going through the wheels to prevent them going as well.

Thank you very much! I have been told multiple times already to checkout Annapolis so we will make a trip down there when we have the chance! That is funny you say that about Phillips, I have already had someone say that Phillips is the greatest.

Now that I have my 4Runner pretty much the way I want it, I decided to upgrade my camera to ensure I don't run out of ways to set money on fire.

I'd like to upgrade my Sony A7 to the A7r ii, just finding it hard to pull the trigger on a used body. More importantly, I am in the market for the FE 100-400GM 4.5-5.6 along with the 2.0 teleconverter. If anyone knows where to get a decent deal on any of that, I'd love to know. Sony stuff just is not cheap anywhere it seems. I'd rather pay a bit more and stay native, but full MSRP does sting.

You might be able to find it if you watch the Fred Miranda buy/sell page.

You can get a $250 rebate on the 100-400GM with the Sony Pro event rebate offer they hand out at events. You can buy from any authorized vendor, then get a visa card rebate in the mail from Sony. Not a super slick deal, but better than none.

I have a card from overland expo west that expires in a few weeks if you are interested. Sony had a booth with a red 5th gen and they were handing out alpha stickers and rebate cards. The rebate scales with the lens price, and the 100-400 gets $250 back.

Nice, thanks! I've never seen this before. Seems like a very active marketplace.

Excellent, thank you! I am still on the lookout for the lens. Looks like they can be had on eBay for about $2100 + tax, but 10% off a brand new one would probably be a better value. My plan was to wait and se if anything miraculous came up over the July 4th holiday. If not, and you definitely won't be using it, I may hit you up for use of that coupon.

I was able to pick up a spotless A7r ii body with <4k actuations and a couple memory cards for $1200, and a 2x teleconverter for $440. The price difference to the Mark iii was just too much for me to rationalize. There's a little debate in my head whether to go for the 100-400 GM or the new 200-600 G that's coming out in about a month for $2k MSRP. Still leaning toward the 100-400, thinking the sharpness should be a little better, and I don't really want to carry around that 200-600. I shoot some wildlife, but it's mostly the Yellowstone big animal type. Not small/fast moving.

Thanks all!

putting the star tracker to more use this past weekend. I was able to capture the these two shots of the Milky Way. Both images I quickly set up and shot since I was running out of time before the moon came up (plus I was tired)
both shots are 2 images each, one for foreground one for back.

Canon 5DMark IV
Canon 16-35 f/2.8 at f/2.8
ISO 1000
150"

I looked at several trackers but very very happy with the
iOptron sky guider pro:
https://amzn.to/2ZLkf7G

it is very easy to set up and use. the most difficult part is getting polar align but this isn't too bad. I can set up now in under 5mins. being able to capture these images with such low ISO and detail is well worth the price of the tracker

on a recent trip to San Fran I was able to capture one of my bucket list images. This is a composite of several images over the course of the evening, I almost called it a night until I saw this cruise ship getting ready to go under the bridge.

I stayed at f/14 through out the images and adjusted shutter speed.
Shot on Canon 5D Mark IV using the Canon 16-35 lens.
Edited all in Photoshop CC with various blend modes.

Hi, my name is Mike and I'm new to the site. I stumbled across this thread and I wanted to share some of my photography. I'm an accountant by day, but I do Automotive Photography on the side. I also do Landscape photography when I go on vacation to places that actually have things to take pictures of. I live in the Dallas area, and we don't really have a lot of Landscape.

I don't know all the technical terms for everything, or ever the textbook correct way of doing things, but if anyone had any questions about photography or Photoshop, I'll do my best to help answer them.

Here are a few of my favorite car photos.

Here is some landscape type stuff.

18th hole at Pebble Beach

L.A. Sunrise

Rocky Mountain National Forest

Golden Gate Bridge

Bixby Bridge

Key Hole Rock

Soooo, somehow I'm just finding this thread?
Wanted to share a few of my images. Happy to share a web link if folks are interested in seeing more. I primarily shoot wildlife, sports, and golf courses.

These are really good! What lens/focal length were you using for the bears? I imagine you don't want get to close to bears. I've never had an opportunity to photograph wildlife, but I think it would be fun.

Just checking in....I shoot mostly with my Sony mirrorless full frame (A7RII, A7s, and RX1RII). Here's a few of my images:

Great work! I especially like the Iceland one.

I also shoot with Sony. I have the A7RII. I've had a couple of other Sony crop sensor cameras as well, but going Full Frame was a game changer.

Thank you. The bears were shot with a 600m at f/5.6. Wildlife can be super challenging and frustrating but is very rewarding.

Here are a couple new ones from a recent Eagles trip.

Very nice! Capturing them in flight is even more amazing. Sometimes I photograph racing events and panning has proven to be quite difficult. A lot of throw always compared to only a few keepers.

I have a big trip planned in April so I have been on the hunt for a new shoulder style camera bag. I have the think tank airport backpack now https://amzn.to/2Pj4Ngo and it has been awesome for me. Little on pricey side but the quality is worth it. I love the think tank brand so I ordered their Retrospective 30 bag https://amzn.to/2Vi44Qq and putting it through the test now. Again the quality of the bag is top and lots of good little pockets for storage. Any one else have good bag suggestions? It has to be messenger/shoulder style and hold full frame body lens attached. Plus room for iPad and misc camera gear

Recent shot of mine, hunting for good car trail locations. This one gets me both Speer Blvd and I-25. The area is less than ideal, lots of homeless people. with the early sunsets during winter I was able to get the shot around 430pm and get out of dodge. I had a 2 stop ND filter on to run the longer exposure.
