PIAA Lights with Tacoma Switch Finally Installed

Finally got my PIAA 520 ATP lights installed this weekend and hooked up using a Tacoma fog lamp switch in the center console. Thanks to all that provide great advice such as Iron Clad Lou and the great wiring document, and ksneubec with awesome write up (which i used exactly and worked perfectly), and to all who answered my messages/questions.

The setup I have is; the PIAA lights are hooked up to the battery directly and can be turned on without the ignition key in. The Tacoma fog switch is hooked up using ksneubec instructions and the setup has the illumination light in the switch off when the lamps are off, and the illumination light on, when the PIAA lights are on.

That looks damn nice! I ordered the steelcraft myself, but cheaped out a bit on the lights. I'm rethinking that after seeing your piaa's though! They look sweet.

To skisiviski and jpless, I picked up the bull bar from autoanything. It took about a month for the order to come through because had to wait for steelcraft to fill their orders as autoanything was back ordered.

For the PIAA lights, they are the PIAA 520 ATP series. I picked them up at a local retailer as they were having a huge sale and were cheaper than any online dealer, when shipping was finally factored in.

To ARK_SWAMP_RIDER, i only have one more pic of a different angle, mostly focused on taking photos from the front.

Sorry to pee in the cool aid but why did you mount them so low? I would think it would expose them to an increased risk of gettin busted up?

Same with the low hanging bull bar? Is there a loss of approach angle?

Looks great ! And the Taco fog light switch was less than what I paid for the FJ Aux light switch and wiring harness. How sturdy is the bull bar ? I like the Westin I have, but on rough roads I get some vibration that makes my lights "dance" just a little. Have you noticed anything like that with the Steelcraft bar?

In response to your question...it is pretty sturdy...no ratteling at all...I got it for a little over three months now and no problems. I believe I can have my 14 year old climb on it and it wont move. Pretty good stuff for the price. I am very happy with it.

From what I've read this is one of the only bull bars that is attached at 4 points, 2 at the bottom and 2 at the top, which apparently makes it very sturdy. That and the price are why I'm waiting for mine to arrive!

Agreed with Axis and can confirm the Steelcraft bull bar is extremely sturdy and does in fact mount in four different places and haven't noticed any dancing lights with this setup.

Also agree with Axis, the price was great for the Steelcraft bull bar.

In response to Colemanfu, when I added the PIAA lights, I also 3M taped them which is available from PIAA. They are debris impact rated to 160 MPH so that should protect them from getting busted up. In regards to approach angle, I haven't noticed too much of a loss.

Yeah, I would think a 3" bullbar wouldn't make that much of a difference, and if your approach was that tight I'd rather have the protection of the bar/skid than not.
