Hey guys

Im looking to pick up an in-dash screen, but im concerned about the clearance of the HVAC controls..

Can you guys with in-dash flip-up monitors send me some pics of your installs?

Side views, shifter clearance (screen flat, shifter in park), how far back screen can go back...

Anyone with a screen lay me some feedback, i have an X-BOX ready to play some music, dvd's, video games, etc sitting here...

Help me give it a home!
Lol..

Thanks guys

ive had both flip out and double din and id say by far the double din is alot better for so many reasons, i have an alpine double din. ill snap some pictures tomorow.

yes, i would agree, but i need a single-din flip up for two reasons, i want my screen at a higher level (ease of viewing, not taking my eyes off of the road as much), and so i can put a radio below it controlling the audio.

I dont have the $$ for a in-dash screen, radio, dvd, nav etc right now, so im looking at putting a raw in-dash one din motorized screen to show the video of the xbox (which will contain my music -its modded with a bigger hard drive-) and the radio so i can still listen to Cds, radio, and my XM radio

well im not sure how tall you are but with the single din flip out, you cant flip it out all the way. It will stop almost straight up but not go any farther so you sort of have to slump down(or i did at least) to see the screen the best.

ill sell you my eclipse av8022 for a reasonable amount, pm me if your interested as for more pics, ill have to search, i dont think i have many

Is there anyway to move the air setting and control down and have just a screen (non flip) above it? That way it's higher and easier to control and see

T4RtoS2K Ah! You were on the same path i was, but unless i can figure out how to extend those HVAC cables, or convert my truck to digital climate controls, thats a no-go..those cables are friggen tight

yea, you could buy a 4th gen 4runner?? thats a big thing to do, youd be spending major $$$ and no one else would appreciate in terms of not increasing the resale.

I've never had a chance to take my dash apart, but I'm sure it can be done. Can you post some pics so I can see what you're talking about. Maybe I can help you come up with something.

Have you decided on a screen yet? I know alpine has a 7 incher out with navi controls and more. Well priced at just under a grand. I'm sure it's a little extra for the navi downloads, but it's still a great price.

A kenwood flip out would work nice in a 4runner... you can adjust how far the screen comes out by a couple of inches. Most screens just allow you to adjust the angle. Kenwood is the only one I know of that allows you to adjust how far it comes out.
