Picked up a 2011 Sienna

Interesing that both the 4runner and Sienna are redesigned and the Sienna got the following in its first year of the redesign that the 4runner did not:

1. LED tail lights
2. A real horn

Lots of other trade offs for similarly priced vehicles, but these are the two that struck me straight away.

Riiiiight...the horn switch costs maybe $20. If you're looking for a minivan, get a Sienna. Perhaps you should watch this review about the 4Runner. Get what you want.

Oh my, I think there may be some remarks for "TheSentinel's" choice. I just want to remind everyone of our rules. One that comes to mind is no name calling. Putting a Sienna above a 4Runner on this forum, well you are going to get a lot of comments.

I don't know what you are talking about as far as the horn goes, I have not been in the new 4Runner's. I used to drive little cars before the 4Runner. Now, I find people don't pull out in front of you, not because of the horn, but because you are a big ass SUV.

Horns are important for getting peoples attention while venturing store parking lots (Sienna)... not so much while out in the middle of nowhere (4Runner).
 
1) Guys, the OP didn't choose a Sienna over a 4Runner. It sounds as if he is fortunate enough to have 2 new cars this year.
2) The Sienna is a nice ride. My boss has one of the SE models. It is a pretty cool looking swagger wagon, IMO.
3) The LED tails are probably a function of the target market and the fact that the Sienna is built in Indiana and the 4Runner is built in Japan. The strong yen is killing profitability on vehicles built in Japan and sold in the USA. I'm going to guess that Toyota, as far as profitability, would much prefer all of us drive Highlanders (also US built). They know, though, that many would just move on to a different brand for our BoF SUVs, so they keep the 4Runner around.

HIDs, active cruise control with pre-collision, memory seats, etc. are available on Sienna. The Sienna is like the "Lexus" of minivans. And since Lexus does not make minivans, Toyota loads up the Sienna with tons of available stuff that would make most entry level Lexus owners blush...but the Sienna ain't cheap either...loaded can be around $45,000. (My '08 Sienna had a MSRP of $42,500!!)

Toyota 4runner is not a Lexus, nor does it have to be because Lexus has their own version (GX460). Toyota is more about everyday men vehicle with practicality over fashion or latest tech.

I can't imagine someone not seeing the 4runner...with the aggressive face of the 5th gen, you don't need a horn!! Now, if you want to feel really ignored, then drive a Prius! :D
 
some people can't read posts very well...

In other news... I was sitting in a showroom the other day and spent half the time sitting in the Sienna, those things are sweet, made me want to be a kid again so someone would drive me around in one...

People are are arguing over the most minute detail lately. Don't take it personally as I think it's the slow build up to 2012 and the end of the world.

Either that or people just want to be @sshats

Hilarious!

So, garage has these in it:

2010 4R Sr5 with leather and other good stuff, plus BFG AT/KOs
2011 Sienna LE with AWD (not a high end model, but power doors etc)

Great trade off between the two rigs. Good ground clearance in the 4R, no ground clearance in the Sienna. Glad I didn't get third row in the 4R with the Sienna around. Can tow a reasonable amount with the 4R while the sienna can do up to 3500 pounds if needed. Both will handle our abundance of snow. Wife and little ones are pleased with the space in the Sienna. Sienna v6 is punchy and strong and gets pretty good mpg's. The Sienna replaced an 09 Subaru outback that just felt small as our kids grew, plus it had an oil leak that the dealer couldn't find. I've owned a bunch of Subarus and am done with that brand. I'm fickle when it comes to vehicles but hope to be happy for a couple of years anyway. Toyota loyalist here.
 
Me bird just got a 2011 Sienna.

The thing is pretty sweet for a minivan. Great for lugging around the kids and their friends.




...I'll never drive it though. :bigok:
