Picked up a 2019 Nightshade 4WD

So I went to the dealership this weekend with every intention of picking up a 2018 Limited 4 Runner. Well, as I was browsing around the lot, I saw a fresh off the truck Nightshade. My wife and I both really liked the look and didn’t even look at the 2018. They only gave me $500 off the sticker price, but I believe they made up for it on my trade in. They gave me $10k for my 2007 4Runner Sport 4WD that had 3 lock actuators out and a gash in the bumper from a bad decision.

The dealer tells me I am the first in the Tri-state area to own one, but that might have just been talk.

So now that I have upgraded, any tips/tricks? I probably need to brush up on the manual and entune system.

My wife's father is the CFO of Toyota, 2020 model brings a 4.5L turbo diesel V8 so I'm waiting for the 2020 model but that's definitely a sweet ride!

You will love the full time 4wd. We have a limited and I just got an '18 sr5. I can tell a difference. I love both.

I use leather masters protectant cream and strong cleaner. Our limited is three years old and the leather looks new. Ours is tan so it picked up blue jean stains easily. It no longer does that. Now I dilute woolite or just use water and the leather masters a couple times per year. I think your interior is black so it will be easier.

Thanks! I have not had leather in a car for 11 years, was just thinking I needed to pick up some cleaner and protectant. Thanks for the tip and reminder!


Any advice on entune? Can I import all the addresses from my phone, or do I need to manually enter them one at a time for navigation? Wish I could just use my phones navigation, seems a little more user friendly.

No problem. Just test the leather masters first to make it doesn't fade it. Also, they have newer stuff but I still use the protectant and strong cleaner. I don't use ink block. I also dont use strong cleaner ever time. It depends on how dirty. We have no kids in the house so it stays clean, now that I know how to stop pants stains.

I dont use nav. I only use my phone. We use " find nearest " but that's about it.

Will the 4Runner get the diesel? I imagine it would be exactly like the motor the 70 gets in Australia. Confirm. Or will this motor only land in Tundra or Tacoma?

Wife's father's name? Unless you're talking about Japan, the Toyota USA CFO is a woman, I believe.....

Hmm... we should start another thread on the diesel lol. I can't imagine it'd come in priced around current. I'm thinking a $3-5k upgrade for an engine with almost 500 ftlbs torque!

Possible powertrain upgrades consist of either diesel engine (which is more than likely to occur), or more powerful V8 engine, which would supply more power.

The 2020 Toyota 4Runner Diesel can have the good-old D-4D 2.8 l turbo unit or the weaker version 1KZ unit with 3.0-l displacement.

I guess the 4.8L Diesel V8 was used in the Landcruiser model not the 4Runner
 
Has anyone had Toyota add running boards after the purchase? I never used the ones on my old 4Runner, but apparently the wife did. I was thinking automatic running boards or the predator running boards. I would think the automatic running boards would be a bit harder for them to install after the fact? I have no idea. I kind of like the look of those predator ones.
