Picked up a new to me 3rdgen!

after my accident 2 weeks ago, and many sleepless nights of searching the internet i finally made a choice on my 4runner, its a 2000 Sport 4x4 auto, 150k miles 2 owner. I paid 5400$ for it and am pretty happy with it, the CEL came on 15 miles off the lot and I have to take it back next week to get it inspected/ and the swaybar linkage replaced so ill ***** to him about that and see what he says but over all its pretty clean. Probably gonna take it to a yota dealership and jut have them go over it to see if anything is needed I herd they had a buyers inspection for arround 115$? anyways here she is!

That's a clean machine!! Do yourself a fun favor and pick up a scanguage while they're on sale. You can check and clear the code yourself and keep tabs on all sorts of other things for your truck.

not really gonna offroad her, probably some tundra brakes, addco swaybars, lbj's, new radiator, external trans cooler, and timing belt service, and drive it till it dies!

I got a p0420 code from the CEL so I ordered both front and back denso o2 sensors for about 110 shipped from rockauto tonight, hopefully I dont need a cat!, next issue is the horrible brakes, gonna hit some wrecking yards for the tundra swap!

Nope, just a SR5 sport edition. Are there limited badges on it? Check out the 3rd gen stickies on distinguishing the models based on features.

Check out NAPA or autozone for the tundra swap. $75 for tundra calipers with lifetime warranty isnt much more than the junkyards and new rotors are definitely the way to go, and toyota pads and shims.

I just got two Reman'd A1 Cardone calipers and rotors for 270 after core, and 100 for pads (semi-metallic) and shims at the dealership.

Dont forget to bleed those suckers thoroughly.

Im guessing its a sr5 with cloth interior,

makes sense but why semi metalic pads and not ceramic? dust isnt an issue for me, if they are a little noisy that dosent mind me either what dose drive me nuts is the vibration and they seem to lock up alot easier then my of 5speed sr5 tho i always downshifted when slowing so i never really got into the brakes like i do now with the automatic. I just want a nice firm predictable pedal feel!

ok guys about 3 weeks ago i started getting a faint noise, and a highway vibration over 65+,
last saturday my girl was in my truck and she pointed out to me how loud the noise has gotten, she says it sounds like a washing machine, its intermittent like rotational that speeds up the faster you go from about 30mph and up and it has some grittyness like vibrations that comes with the noise

i jacked it up and pulled on the wheels up and down and it seemed tight and spun freely, and had a little bit of play side to side, the cv's didnt move when i tried to turn them just a small about of end play i have searched and come up with nothing that really seems similar to the particular noise

im waiting on my tax return to comeback so im kind of strapped for cash right now but any ideas on what it could be?

Sounds like possibly a ujoint as shoot mentioned. Seems to be a common issue, but no biggie. Also, if you haven't already...you can search your VIN on the Toyota site to look at history/recalls, etc. Welcome.

i was thinking ujoint but it seems like its up front, maybe transfer case/ front driveshaft/front diff can anybody put some personal experience
