Picked up my T4R 06SE V8 Today

Hello everyone: App 1 hour ago my GF & I took delivery on her brand new 06 T4R Sport Edition V8 in Titanium Metallic. Things is sweet. I like the new front end and reflector headlights.

[edit] I just joined today ( 1st post). . looking foward to posting and meeting all you guys/gals. .and of coarse learning all about the T4R.

Thanx Noloc. . .Youll see me in here. Im real active in the Subie forums (NASIOC). I own a 04 WRX STi. It has Center Diff too. . I leave in Auto/ Manual. . can lock 50/50etc via dial. . Im dying to learn more about the center diff on the 4runner's and the X REAS.
Def going to read the Manual. .lots of stuff to learn.Cannot wait.

ps: Got from Lia. . .. this is the 5th maybe 6th Toyota from there. Great bunch of guys there.

Hey Mark. .and thanx. Ill probably get a K&N to start off with. I like the Silverstars. . may change out the hi-beams. It has 22 miles on it.Oh yeah. . exhaust tip. How is the one toyota offers?
Or should I get another kind. .what do you think?
Another question: when should I have the first oil change. . wait till 5000miles like dealer said or whats the deal?????

The Toyota chrome exhuast tip does the trick. It gives the truck a sporty look. I don't recommend doing the first oil change at 5,000 miles. I did my first oil change at around 2,500 miles and change the oil every 3,000 miles. Basically, 5,000 miles is the longest you can wait to change the oil.

Mark86: I know all cars and engines differ.Its good to hear from actual owners and what works for them.5000 miles seems steep for the first.. .Im going for 2500-3000 we'll see. .however ill probably stay at 5000 there after. The GF or myself will have it done at the dealer.I will be checking it alot during break in. . should I expect any oil consumption? Any break in tips?

Basically, just vary your speeds and don't really floor it for the first 1,000 miles.
 
Welcome to the 4Runner family!

The first change should be done at 1000 miles. You want to get the break-in debris out early. After that you can run conventional oil 5K miles and a good synthetic 10K miles, safely. If uncomfortable with the 10K synthetic OCI, at 5K have the oil analyzed and you will see that there is allot more use left in it. The 4.7 is gentle on the oil.

Congrats on the new truck!

I agree with Koz. The 3k OCI is from the old days with conventional oils. I usually change the oil after 500-1000 miles when new though.

The OEM Valor tip is what I put on my truck and it's nice. Check out www.trdparts4u.com for simple upgrades.
 
Mark: Welcome! I picked up my 06' Sport 4X4 V8 last week (just like yours except black). I am loving it. It has 500 miles on it now, and I am changing out the oil today (and switching to synthetic). Just in the past week I have added: chrome exhaust tip by Valor, seatshield seatcovers, painted my calipers red, tinted front windows 20%, and Trueflow air filter (beats K&N hands down). So, I am on my way. As far as your first oil change goes.....I was raised to believe that you should get that first oil change done before 1000 miles. This gets the new engine shavings out and fresh synthetic in (if you choose synthetic). I usually do it at around 500 miles, but I am pretty anal. I definately recommend tinting your front windows 20% as it will look killer on the silver. And, do some research and you will find the Trueflow air filter is really better than stock or K&N gauze filters. I bought mine through burtman industries and it was at my door step 2 days later. Its awesome. Just do a general search and you will find plenty of info. Oh, paint your calipers red...I have received sooo many compliments on the painted calipers. Other than that, just enjoy it as I am. I absolutely love my 4Runner and am glad I chose a 06' Sport. There is nothing about it I dont like:D
