Pickup trucks and bed liners

To me it's a given, if I were to ever get my pickup truck I am going to get a bed liner, for I have seen so many bids rot to nothing because they never had a liner, and after many years of use the rust just ate it to nothing.

Now I am not stupid and know it will rust, but the bed liner will definetly help it to last longer. But I see so many trucks: Ram, Tundra, Dakota, F150, etc. that don't have liners. Any ideas on why these guys and girls done put it in?

If moisture gets between the liner and bed, it can rust too. Also, the liner can scrape the bed. I still think the liner is better than nothing.

A popular option now is to spray Rhinolining in the bed. It's a tough, textured coating that permanently protects the bed.

Alot of people don't care. They see a pickup as a work truck and could care less if the bed gets dinged up. That's what it's for type mentality. Whatever works for you I say

Herculiner

I found that hurculiner was an inexpensive alternative to Rhinolining. Its basically the same compound but its a do-it-yourselfer. I like the idea that you can choose how many coats to put on and where to put it. I used the herculiner on my tube bumpers on my 4runner. I also applied it to the rocker panels under my door to help with scraping. There was even enough left over to do a few coats on my buddies tacoma bed. Its been on for over a year with no traces of rust on either vehicle. I think the kit ran around 90 bucks.

In my old ranger I had a plastic insert lining. There was more rust under the lining than on a scrapped tunaboat.

I think 'spray on' liners are the way to go. had a rhino sprayed on in '94 and still looks good. would definatley get one again!

Never heard of it, but if it works as good as everyone says, I see how it can be much better than the liner. Well if I ever get my truck I will just go that route.
