No noticeable, overwhelming plastic/rubber smell at all. I have the standard cargo area; no 3rd row and no sliding cargo tray.

Those are exactly what I have. I love them. They fit perfectly and have enough overlap on the door sils that they lay absolutely flat so your foot does not catch them getting in.
PS, no smell here either, depending on what you step in before getting in.

Why do you prefer the Weathertechs?
I'm curious because I usually put Weathertechs in my vehicles, but these Husky mats look just as good, and I love that they come up over the door sill. Look like they'd give even more protection for your carpet.
What's the price difference between Weathertechs and the Husky?

the only functional difference I saw between the WT and Husky's, is that the sides go up much higher on the WT than the Husky's, especially by the drivers footrest and the sides by the central driveshaft column for driver and passenger.

Thanks for the pix. The WT I had in my Ridgeline didn't come up to the door sill, and salt was always getting on the carpeting below the sill plate as a result.
Either they did a better job on the design for the 4Runner or they've just changed their designs overall. :thumb:

It has been my experience (I have had both) that the Weathertechs not only fit better, but are made of a higher quality (and a bit softer/more playable) material. My Huskys are hard, and won't bend to conform to certain areas, and therefore they don't lay flat in all areas. Plus you have to trim off a bunch of those hard plastic spikes on the bottom so they don't stick up on the sills (Even thought they still do even after trimming)
I guess I could take a heat gun to them...but they should fit right initially, and not need modification. They aren't so bad that I would get rid of them, and buy new Weathertechs, I just wish I would have initially bought the Weathertechs instead.

This doesn't sound correct...I purchased the Husky Liners for several reasons, the first being the driver's foot rest is completely covered by the Husky Liners and is not the case with the WTs.

yes the foot rest is covered better on the husky's but if you look on the side there is no coverage but then again I don't wear a size 12+ boat for a shoe where the WT don't cover the foot rest itself.
and how many of us rest the side of you shoe on the left kick panel adjacent to the foot rest. that is where the coverage on the husky really drops the ball, no sidewalls on them.

I super imposed the WT pic within the husky pic.
I highlighted the areas of concern in red. notice how the husky's the sidewall is even with the floor. it follows the same path with no sidewall along the whole foot rest. but credit to husky on covering to the very top of the foot rest, whereas the WT has a tall sidewall but only goes up about 75% of the foot rest.

The coverage of those areas are ambiguous, I have yet to see any real pics of the 14' WTs in the forums.
I had the WTs in my 3rd gen and constantly had to vacuum under the foot rest where it didn't provide coverage. Either way it's a floor mat and both provide protection from the elements but it helped my decision that the Huskys were cheaper, so I could spend my cash elsewhere.
