I bought the hood protector/ bug guard the day after I got the car at the dealership. I brought it home and tried to install it, but couldn't read the directions for the life of me. I took it back into the dealership that day and they installed it. At first it looked wrong, but it's grown on me, but if it's installed improperly, I might take it to a different dealership and have them look at it.
As for the Cruiser. I think it had 150k maybe 175k, but it was definetly on the down slope of it's life. We had replaced the catylitic converters numerous times, the whole exhaust system once, some junk in the engine, and was in 4 accidents, and only went to the body shop once lol. So the thing has taken a beating and was a amazing vehicle. Only problem w/ it is we gave it to my brother, and he didn't/doesn't have the same care for cars as I do.
The trade was a little rough. They were gonna give us 25k out the door for the Runner and the trade. The trade alone was gonna be about 4 or 5k maybe (I feel ripped off now that I see these amazing deals, we bought the car like right before Toyota started giving freak deals). Anyways, we hand them over the title and they come back and say they can't take the car, it had a salvaged VIN.
Back track a couple years to when we bought the car. The guy who sold it to us gave us a phenominal deal on the car, but told us that it had been stolen and the VIN was scratched off, and sent to a harbor in one of those big crates getting ready to be shipped over seas. Well apparently the car was seized along w/ a bunch of other nice cars and put up for auction. Apparently nothing was missing except for the VIN. But if a car has a salvaged VIN, dealerships don't really wanna take it cuz they don't want the rep of selling that kinda vehicle.
Now at the deal, they finally came back and told us they could give us 2k for it, and they would take it straight to auction. Instead of trying to deal w/ the check engine light, and all the gaskets and piston shafts or w/e was wrong, we decided to just do it and go on our way....
Fun story lol
Sorry for the long post btw, and thanks for the comments, I might take the car in tomorrow after my interview.
