Pictures with Skid Plate

Still rather new to the board and the 06 4runner, so pardon my ignorance. Does Toyota offer a silver skid plate? It was an option for the Tundra, just thought they may offer same for 4runner. The reason I ask is that I was hoping someone who has installed one could post a picture of it installed. My ride is black and I am thinking the skid plate would look really good against the black. Thanks in advance.

There is an addition skid plate you can add on as an aftermarket accessory. If I remember correctly, it was around $200. I installed it on my 2005 4Runner and my parents have it on their 2006. Here are a few pics:

Woops, that was a typo- it was around $200. I am not that crazy to pay $500 for a piece of metal. :p

Lots of folks on the forum don't wheel so they enjoy a different look on their 4Runner and are willing to spend the bucks to get there. Me, I prefer off-roading and will spend more effort on getting the mods right then I will on waxing and polishing. ;);

Anyhow, Budbuilt's FJC skidplate will have to be modified to fit a 4th Gen 4Runner. Hopefully they'll do it soon but the whole kit will be $600 or more plus shipping. It has been a month since they promised to do something and I expect they are pretty busy.

For now I went with a Downey Off-Road plate and later swapped out the hex head bolts for button heads. We also rigged up the adaptors to hold the trans line bracket that is hanging loose in the photo.

I have the same Tacoma sport skid on my Runner (it's removed for off road) and you can get them new for $70 but for 4th gens you'll need different brackets to mount it. I'm sure with some searching you can find the blingy plate for much less than $200.

hey ron where did you get that skid plate... ive been looking on the net for one and no luck yet!

How do the brackets differ on the 4th gen vs the 3rd gen or are they compatible. 3rd gen guys should be sure before ordering a 4th gen part.
 
I know this is an old thread, but would a Budbuilt skidplate/bellypan weigh down my front end enough to where I would have to reset my coilovers?
