Pilot Fire

Hey guys, in case anyone is following this I just got an update that they made good progress overnight and this morning and it's about 64% contained with 7,900 acres burned. I took this Monday evening when it was getting uncomfortably close to Lake Arrowhead but very fortunate the winds held to the north. Unfortunately I thought I heard this one was started by an off-roader or some idiot driving where they shouldn't. I sure hope they are not getting any "fire-season" trail closure ideas in their heads for our SoCal trails.

i always hate when i see smoke billowing over the mountain especially places i frequent
last year by jenks lake and now by pilot rock. im glad that its almost fully contained and that the weather has cooled lately.
where did you hear this was started by an offroader?

That's unfortunate. It takes one to ruin it for us all. I'm glad it getting closer to containment.

I really hope this wasn't started by a member of the off-highway community. The Eco-nazis are always looking for any excuse to restrict access. Other than the fire that's a beautiful shot Tim. Is that from inspiration pt. or Edison rd. ?

I was following an incident thread on either CALfire or CDF site - pretty interesting to follow. I believe it just said a "vehicle" near the Pilot Rock OHV area but can't remember exactly how they worded it. Yeah they don't need any more ammo for trying to close more trails.

Here's the first post in the thread mentioning vehicle in brush.

That just means a vehicle fire started brush/grass fire. Not a vehicle driving through brush. Could easily be a overheated car caught fire.. they usually burn to the ground and cause larger grass fires. Very common.
