Pink slip help!!!!

So one of my neighbors is selling a 2002 Sequoia with 80k and selling for $3k (i know not a 4runner but need help) but the one problem with the carfax is that it says the title was washed. What does this necessarily mean? Should I got forward to getting this for now? I need a car temporarily while I get a new job to afford a 4Runner. Someone please help me out with this!

Make sure there's no lein (lien??) against it or anything for sure. Make sure not stolen...

If all checks out there, find out what's wrong with it... Guessing it's what we call in PA an 'R title' or rebuilt... just guessing tho...

There's gotta be some sort of awful nagging issue at that price though... that's absurdly low!

Have a dealership or mechanic you trust give it a look for like $100? If all checks out as 'acceptable' then go for it?

that v8 is gunna rip you on gas. especially with gas going up. My parents use to own a sequioa and with the v8 it SUCKED gas. the japanese v8's are not as efficient yet as the american made v8's i believe.

Not worried about gas ripping my ass haha i used to drive a 5.0 gt mustang and that ripped my ass bad! If i end up picking up this Sequoia Ill ask 2800 and use it to get around to school and work then eventually sell it to get a new 3rd gen!

its the tank thats going to kill you. my brother in law has one, it was $68 when gas was cheap lol. but anyway good luck with that purchase sound like a too good to be true deal

that sounds about right not too bad.

A friend recently sold his '06 Sequoia and got almost 14K - he was sldo getting less than 10 mpg. There are plenty of better things to spend money on than gas.

Washed title means it was re-registered in another state, effectively clearing what could have been some unpleasant history. Google "title washed"- it's a growing trend

Definitely have it checked over - it could be dangerous to drive at worst.

I had an S-10 one time that I bought from a guy local to me. I didn't Carfax it when I bought it...I just test drove it, liked it, and bought it. When I sold it the guy buying it from me DID Carfax it. The title had been washed. It was originally titled to a rental company in Louisiana. It was involved in a total-loss accident, then was registered in Alabama, then in Georgia. So after moving it across a couple of states the GA title showed clean.

It was a good truck and I never had any problems out of it. But if I had known the title was washed before I bought it, I would have passed on it. A washed title kills the value if the buyer finds out, too.

Washed title = sneaky business. Not a good thing IMO.

My Sequoia is only used for hauling big items and more than 3 passengers now...I love the V8, I hate paying double what my 4 runner takes to fuel up for the same amount of time roughly. Try to get it cheap and take it to a mechanic before you buy.
