Pioneer AVH-W4400NEX

Got a killer deal on the 4400NEX and am going to surprise the wife by installing it into her 03 4Runner with JBL. Has anyone done this specific install before? Looking for some pointers and how to specifically hook up the wiring. I am ordering the SWRTY-61J SWC Crux unit and the Meta 95-8210 updated dash kit to mesh it all together.

Where and how much? I want to get the same head unit.

Install should be pretty straight forward after completing the wiring hardness , Crutchfield is a good resource for information.

I just installed this unit in my 06 (non JBL) It's pretty sweet!!

I don't know if I got a killer deal, 150 rebate on Crutchfield... ya ya i know.

Got the Metra 95-8202 Dash Kit and it looks pretty good. Didn't know about the SWRTY-61J SWC Crux unit, I hooked it up with the iDatalink Maestro unit and got misc gauges and tire pressure readings. The Maestro unit came with the wiring harnesses etc. so it was pretty straightforward.

I installed this unit a few months ago after a botched break in that ruined my old pioneer unit. Wiring was fairly straight forward, just familiarize yourself with the colors of the factory harness beforehand and try matching wires before splicing. I had to use a different dash kit, and it was snug, but it worked perfectly. My 4Runner came with navigation originally and I was able to locate the old gps module and replace it with the one provided with the radio.

I use an iphone, so I have a lightening cable running from usb 1 to the pocket compartment beneath the climate cluster so that I can have a dedicated charge/wired connection if needed. I then ran another lightening cable from usb 2 to the glove box for my wife when she needs a charge.

Loving mine so far. Pioneer really improved the clarity of the capacitive touch screen between my old unit and this one which was a bonus for me.

I was going to go with Crutchfield but their price matching sucks. They only price match regular units and then they don’t give you the other stuff half priced like it normally is. You purchase the radio on Newegg but it’s through in drive autosound or something like that. Purchased the bypass switch, the cigarette smoker kit, the dash kit, and the Crux SWC. It should be nice one it’s all in.

Thank you so much! I am going to run the Android usb to the glove box probably, and the. I am getting the cigarette lighter out and taking out the cigarette portion and putting in a USB like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01NAMU8KY/ref=ox_sc_act_image_2?smid=A3SVRQSX2ZWTQC&psc=1. That will be for the Carplay if we for some reason wanted to do it wired. We both have iPhones. I was originally going to get the USB 2 piece square piece that replaces one of the blank switches but heard bad things about a lot of them.

I wish I could use the datalink maestro RR but it is not for 03’s and I don’t think the SW from datalink will work right with JBL.

Where did you mount your GPS?

For me, there is a little metal plate under the dash where the original gps sensor was stuck too. It's located behind guage cluster to the top right.

I installed the 2300NEX. Would be somewhat similar, I imagine.
