Pioneer AVIC-D1 on 4th Gen

Anyone has installed the Pioneer AVIC-D1 on 2003-2006 4Runner? Please post the pictures as I would like to see how it look.

I am jogging between Pioneer D1 and Eclipse Avn5435.... I want to know if the Avn5435 has km/hr and details map of Canada cities.

I know D1 does... but for those who got D1 installed, please share you experience with me.

I had it narrowed down to the D1, N2, and 5435.....and went with the N2.

Yea no doubt the N2 is an outstanding unit functional-wise. And Curtis, it looks very nice in your car. I personally prefer the appearance while some "outstanding" functions are not necessary for me.

5435 is better b/c it can play DVD (D1 cannot). Well, let me think.... All I want is to have NAV on all time and play mp3, optionally DVD movie for the rear passangers...... Mmm... both unit can do. However, if to play DVD on 5435 for rear passangers, then I can't have NAV because DVD and NAV shared the same slot. It's a take and give.

If I want to have NAV on at all time with mp3 and in additional to have DVD for rear passangers, then I need to have extra player anyway. In fact, for movie, I rather to stay home with my 42" Plasma.

Plus, while D1 costs cdn$1100 bucks and cdn$1600 for 5435.... I saved 500 for the player and headrest monitors.

No hard feeling, difference people has difference needs. I don't XM and don't like to plug my ipod everytime I jumped on my car and and unplug when I got off........ b/c I am lazy~

Oh...no hard feelings at all.

Out of all them, I think the 5435 looks the best in the car, and its display layout seems better too. I just wish it could do seperate zones.

I actually installed the Avic-D1 a couple of weeks ago. Tomorrow I am finishing the install by adding a PAC Steering wheel interface. Sirius Radio and Toyota double dim trim to close off the openings. If you still want pictures I will post them after I'm done.

I just bought an 06 SR5, and I was thinking about getting the Avic-D1. I would love to see pictures of your install. It would definately help me make my decission...

I'd love to see pics of the D1 too. I'm considering it along with the Eclipse and the OEM Toyota one too. Does the D1 have amber lighting? The price of the Pioneer is very appealing though.

I am using the Toyota Double Dim trim to close off the opening. They are made by Scosche and you can get them at cardomain.com for 7.99 plus shipping. (Scosche Double Dim Trim)

My brother was telling me about that earlier tonight and it appears to be the same exact unit as the AVIC-D1.

Well, it seems to have a few improvements... such as voice recognition, which I think is a nice thing...

How well does the PAC Steering wheel interface work on the AVIC-D1. Does it switch channels on the sirius tuner? I just finished the install of mine with Alpine 6.5 Rs in the front and Ss in the rear, and completed with Alpine 240 amp. If the PAC Steering wheel interface works well than that will be next.
