I installed a Pioneer AVIC-D2 navigation unit in my 2002 Sport. The install took me about 10-12 hours (I never installed a car radio before let alone a navi with some additional accessories), I kind of lost track because I did it over 3days. Along with the nav I installed a ND-BC1 rear view camera so I can see when backing-up and I can watch the bikes while I

I'm still reading up on what this thing can do. When I did the initial research on the unit I assumed when I saw DVD on the description, I would be able to watch them on the screen. I've now come to find out it will only read the DVD nav disc. The only way to watch DVDs (I think) is to hook-up some external unit? No biggy I really don't plan on watching too much TV/DVDs while I'm driving or sitting in my car. That's what the big plasma @ home is for.

Don't know anything abot the L2 but Pioneer's Z1 is their Mac Daddy nav, it has all the tricks, but it also runs @ 2Gz just for the unit. I only paid $750.00 for the unit, $250.00 for the rear camera and $50.00 for the iPod interface....CHEAP! Normally the unit itself runs $1500.00

Thanks, maybe that is what I'm getting the newer version of the Z1. The Z2 is supposed to be released in late Feb and I'm holding the install off until they get the new Z2 with the 40gb hard drive. $2500 installed

Hey There,

Nice system!

I am very seriously considering doing the same. I have a question for you - it looks as though the D3 screen is tilted up in the pictures that you have provided - is that my imagination?

I have a 99 SR5 4Runner - and in the older style (like yours), it seems like the double-din position in the dash is in a lower position compared to the new models. I am trying to decide between two AVIC systems, the D3 and the N3. The only reason I would choose the N3 over the D3 is that it can tilt up to accomodate for the relatively low mounting position.

Does the D3 tilt?

Thanks! :)

Thanks,

The D2 has about 4 settings that allow u to tilt it up because it sits so low in the dash. I think it also has a setting that also allows u to angle it a few degrees left or right? I picked the D2 becasue I like how it sits flush in the dash.
