Pioneer Nav - AVIC D3 install Question

Looks like I will be getting a Navigation system for my 4Runner. I'm leaning towards the Pioneer AVIC D3. I've looked through here only saw a few people that have the AVIC D3 installed. Anyone else have this unit installed? If so do you know what wire harness I need to get and what dash kit that will fit for this unit?

Any pics?

I have the pioneer f90bt. I went to crutchfield and bought the wire harness and the metra dash kit from them. You just put your info in and what you need comes up.
I'm satisfied with the my metra kit, it's not perfect, but doesn't bother me in any way.
Definitely buy from them.

Got any pics of it?

i have avic-d3 and love it. also rear seat flip down and i can watch whatever is playing in back on the head unit up front.
also allows for multiple a/v ins so i can still do backup cameras when i get to that point :)

one slight frustration is that the maps are on dvd, but not much of an issue because most of my music plays off ipod. i have connected my iphone to the headunit one time (and it streamed the audio from a youtube video which was effing awesome) but it is not an approved accessory and may cause iphone battery issues. turning off 'charge while connected' may resolve this issue though.
i do not have a subwoofer hooked up yet so cannot speak to that.

other cool features i enjoy are custom button colors, plays music while GPS is displayed, ipod cord/ipod control on head unit, EQ settings/access.
also the touch screen responds to pressure, not body heat like the touchscreen on iphone/ipod touch does.

i will post pics later tonight when i am home.

Can you PM me some info? What wire harness did you get (if any) and what dash kit you got?

i have a pioneer avic z3 in my urban runner. though i didn't do the install or am i a car person so i wouldn't be able to help you.

the people who performed the installation said i had to get an adapter or something to allow the steering wheel controls to work. they had to program it or something.

Where did you get your head unit? Where in NOVA are you located?

I've got the D3 in my Runner. I got it from a place called Sonic Electronix at sonicelectronix.com. They had the best deal running when I bought it last year. I ended up getting it with iPod cable and Bluetooth module. I would definitely recommend getting it. Make sure you properly ground the Parking Brake wire so you can get around only using the GPS when the car is standing still. I can post pics if you still want them.

Edit:
And as far as the dash kit and wiring harnesses go, I just punched in what kind of car I had on the sonic electronix site and they sent me the right stuff if I remember correctly. If that doesn't work, try going to crutchfield's website and adding the D3 to your cart and look at what it adds to your cart as far as accessories go.

How's the response time on the D3? I've heard other Pioneer models are really slow.

Response? If you're just talking bout how long it takes for it to respond after you hit a button, its not lightning fast, but its not painfully slow either... I haven't really noticed too much. I'll check it out when I'm in my car tomorrow. The response time hasn't been too big of an issue for me at least if I haven't noticed it after a year.

Here is a pic of my avic d3 as of friday.
