Pioneer USA - Navigation Receivers


anyone have experience with this deck? i have a iphone+ipod i think this thing is pretty packed out with options for the price and the ipod intergration seems pretty nice!

I don't have the iphone but I have an avic f900 bt. It works great with my sons and friends iphones. Full onscreen touch capabilities. You never have to touch the phone again. Bluetooth will also link up to your phone so you still know when it ringing. In some cases (like mine) you need and additional wire to make it work. Be sure to get that. The cd-iu230v.

I have this exact model, AVIC-U310BT, in my 06 4Runner. I really like the Ipod controls, USB connection and in GPS mode the screen is sharp. However, there are some serious deficiencies with it regarding the GPS. You have to buy the waypoints; it doesn't even include restaurants. A cheap TomTom is much better and allows for intersection searches. The Pioneer requires an address. Downloading waypoints is a waste as well because of the way you have to search for the exact one you want. (With a TomTom, you can download all the McDonalds in the US and it treats them like any other waypoint, not with the Pioneer.) The bluetooth is great when it works. I don't know if it's my phone, but I've read other reviews where people have the same problem. Every time I get in the truck I have to accept access. If I set it to automatically connect, it won't and I have to reset the entire unit, losing the presets in the process.

If I had it to do over, I would find another head unit. It's just too much of a pain compared to a good GPS.

I have had much better experiences with my pioneer and have recommended and sold them to many people. IMO tomtom is one of the worst units period. Garmin has served me best. Pioneer GPS takes some getting used to. You just have to know what to type in on your searches. :thumb3: Any questions ask me?
The only problem I have had is every once in a while it takes a while to go back to music after a phone call ends. Or, if you get two calls real close together you may miss one. Auto linking bluetooth has not been an issue for me.
Sorry you have had issues with your Pioneer unit.
There are many different units to choose from thats for sure. I know kenwood uses garmin gps but I have never used one. Plus, I dont know if kenwood is what it used to be.

It doesn't look as good online as it does in person, IMO. If you can get to an audio shop that has it on display, do so - the screen is kind of small when compared to the HUGE buttons... Good luck!
