Pioneer Stereo Install

I have a 2003 SR5. I want to take out my OEM standard non JBL without RDS and install a Pioneer AVH-P3300BT.

Crutchfield says it fits. Will it fit? Not sure I trust them after some comments.
I have read 16 pages of forum and see lots of other aftermarkets but not this one. Does anyone have this unit or a Pioneer that is similar installed? Any advice would help. Looks like I might need a Metra dash kit and if necessary a relay fuse to disable the DVD on the parking brake to let it play when driving for passengers? It seems they include install cables but not the Ipod cable. I am not interested in navigation. Any pictures or thoughts on this deck? Thanks!

It will fit. I put in a AVH-P4300DVD and know of several others who've done similar units. You will need the dash kit (Metra 95-8210 I believe). You will need a relay in order to bypass the e-brake. Search youtube for the bypass, there are a ton of videos there showing how to make it. Ipod cable would be separate. I've messed with the 3200dvd and 4300dvd, really like both, hard to go wrong with that unit IMO.

Both the USB and AUX ports are in the back. You'd run a cable from the back of the unit to a place of your choosing. I've seen them ran to the glove box, center console, or just out in the cab somewhere for easy access. This is what sold me on the 4300 (well, plus the bigger screen). I prefer the clean look of the 4300 with no cables on the front. Also for something like an iPod you can leave it hooked up all the time without folks outside the car seeing it.

The BT model has Blue tooth so unless you need to charge your phone you dont need to attach any wires.

The ones with built in bluetooth only support phone calls, they do not support audio streaming. So, if you wan to play tunes from your iPhone you'll have to hook it up. On the other hand, if you buy the regular model and add on the bluetooth adapter, you get both phone call and audio streaming support. I have no clue why they do this, but you get shafted if you spend extra to get it built in vs buying the add on.

I have researched this thing and the consensus is that the streaming audio on added bluetooth for the 4300 is shotty. Most just use the hard connect. I agree tht having the AUX and USB out the back of the unit IS the way to go at least for me. However what sold me was Pandora. What didn't sell me was that I would have to get an IPhone and ditch my beloved Blackberry (with Pandora app) to use the on screen Pandora feature. I know I can run it through my phone with the AUX cable but not as cool to have it on your screen. So really the benefit is my Ipod nano 2nd generation. I already have a Garmin Nuvi so navagation is pointless for me. As I get into this more I am on the fence to just add a Scosche FM-MOD02 Universal Audio Input FM Modulator for iPod, Satellite Radio or Portable Music Player on my OEM stereo as well as a Garmin Nuvi Hardwire Cable (Mini-USB connector) for a Garmin Nuvi. My best friends husband is an electrician so install cost are free. So I'm looking at about $500 includes 4300 unit, brackets; ipod cable; tax & bypass relay plus having to upgrade my phone to use the features VS. $50 bucks with hard wire rigging. Is this telling me something? Us women...we change our minds. :bash: I am leaning towards the simple method. I will post a pic once I get the project done.

All depends on what you want. I bought the 4300, installed it, and two days later swapped back to my OEM (I have the OEM Nav system). I loved the 4300, just ended up in the same boat, it was kinda pointless since I don't have an iPhone. The Pandora sold me to, and I got that one thinking I'd upgrade to an iPhone, but decided against that. For the price, you could always try the hard rigging, you wouldn't be out much if you decided to go the aftermarket route after giving that a try.

I have the USB and aux inputs, but have never used them since I can stream everything through bluetooth. The Clarion is a great unit though! See my signature for the one I got... but I know they replaced it with the cx501 now or you can go with the VX400 for video too.

That was one of the factors that influenced me going back to OEM. I currently hook my phone up to a fm transmitter via bluetooth. It works well. I hated the switch to having to plug the phone into the AUX port. I looked into it thoroughly, really wanted bluetooth and that's what I found out after looking at the Pioneer lineup. Not many of the low end units support bluetooth audio streaming, outside of the Clarion. That Clarion is impressive, buddy installed one is his 05 4runner. The bluetooth streaming is superb, very convenient.

Galactic, I'm getting the Clarion CX609. The new one doesn't have the USB in the back so I got it on EBAY. I got it with the Metra Kit and Wiring Harness. My friend wants to know:
Did he run into any problems during installation that hung him up and he had to order some Blah, blah item to finish the install?

Look at my thread, I did order a GM antenna adapter to use both antennasa and a splitter. I also had to hook up ALL the blue wires to the blue, this will power the antenna booster.

Instead of the Metra 40-GM10 adapter, the Scosche MDAB adapter can be used. It's a 2" adapter instead of 10" cable/adapter.

I used the Metra 40-UV43Y-cable and the Scosche MDAB for the Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD install in my 04. Picked both cable/adapter off of ebay for about $10.

Yes, it fits better. But it still comes out the same in the end though. The cable in question has a right angle to it, the adapter does not.

Plug the part numbers into Google and look at the images, you'll see the difference.

3. Dual antenna adaptor
4. Bezel kit

5. run a power trigger to power the fm antenna amplifier?

I haven't done the install yet Jerrydog but yes. Add the wiring harness too. Bezel kit meaning face plate/bracket kit, yes. I didn't need the steering control adapter because I don't have that feature. I am going to bag the Sirius setup because to the yearly subscription and the two boxes and separate antenna needed for the Clarion CX609 unit. Yup that sounds about right. Also I added on my list many beers I have to buy for the guys putting it all together for me.:thumb3:
