Absolutly great tire. I had them on my range rover sport hse in a 19" to replace the crappy conti sport contacts. The pirelli tires were awesome on the beach and in the snow, very low road noise and descent cornering ability and very little wear after 6 thouand miles and this was on a 6k pound rover. I highly recomended these tires to all my pals over on rangerovers.net. If I were to do it again I would buy these again. Hope this helps.

I posted this thread just after I bought the Scorpions. Since that time I have crossed the Yukon in winter with them. They are a superior tire. They are pricey but in my opinion worth it. Combined with the 4WD 4Runner you are right up there with the other top rated tires including BF Goodies, Cooper, Nokian and Michelin. The Firestone Destination AT is also well thought of and less expensive. Forget flat spotting the story on previous Pirelli tires. It has been 20 below zero all week here in Anchorage. Not an issue.

This tire has consistently been reviewed by ConsumerReports, Tire Rack.com and others as a top tier all terrain tire. I don't hear of too many people that use them, but those that do seem to love them. Alaska man's endorsement seems like a legit one since he encounters 'all-terrain' conditions daily in Alaska.
I too have been looking hard at these tires and am interested in more users opinions. I think it's safe to say that they are superior to the stock dunlops in your region's weather conditions.

I've had 'em for about 8K miles and just got back from a 2K mile trip through CA, NV, UT and AZ that included snow, ice, dirt, sand and plenty of highway and they performed beautifully.
They rarely lose grip (VSC kicked in for a total of about 10 seconds on the entire trip, once on ice and once in sand) and are just about as smooth and quiet as any road tire I've ever used. I was worried that they'd be noisier than the stock 'flops but they have not been. They also track much better than my old Dunlops on paved roads.
