Pissing off my 4Runner

Something quick to run by you guys:

I'm not great about coming to a full & complete stop in reverse before shifting into drive, say whilst maneuvering in a parking lot. Im not doing j-turns or anything, just a little quick on the shifter.

Well, twice in the last week I have done this and my truck has sort of freaked out both times, beeping at me from somewhere in the dash and I feel a vibration or clicking from the brake pedal (anti-lock activation?). KIND OF feels like the DAC in operation.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is some sort of self-braking from reverse to drive another one of our vehicle's amazing features or am I just wrecking it?

Mine has done the same thing a couple of times. Not because i'm uick with the shifter, but my driveway has a bit of a slope. If I'm parked on the slope, when I take my foot off the brake I start to slide back a bit, and th etraction control light comes on, and it beeps like you mentioned. someone more educated about this than me will have to explain it though. just wanted to let you know you're not the only one.

Both of you guys are activating the "hill start assist" which keeps the truck from rolling backwards when you start on a hill. I believe it uses the ABS to do this witch will cause it to "freak out" and click and beep a lot. It is a cool feature and works well. Hope this helps.

I've felt my hill asist work many times in my drive way, with zero lights or noises. just a gentle quick stop

I've never had mine kick in without beeping at me...

Sometimes I'm quick from the shift in reverse to the gas pedal, and my tires will like lock up, or feel like I'm peeling rubber, but then gear catches and I'm fine. Never any beeps.

Yup, mine does the exact same thing, dash light, and some clicks and beeps.
