Pitman and Idler Arm

Ape Runner

I'm look at purchasing a used 4Runner and P/O says the ball joints probably need to be replaced in the near future. I called my mechanic for an estimate so I have some idea going in and my mechanic said that replacing the pitman arm and idler arm should be done at the same time. To do the job right, is that correct?

Thanks,

Yikes -no response. I assume everyone is working hard!

I talked to Steve @ Sonoran Steel. Toyota hasn't used Pitman or Idler arms since 95 and now we have the steering rack. So unless the steering rack is leaking, he said leave it alone and just do the ball joints.
