Placed an order for '07 Tundra :)

I just wanted to let everyone know that before too long I will not be a 4Runner owner anymore. I just placed an order for an '07 Tundra DoubleCab Limited which will be here in a month. It is Slate Metallic with the 5.7 V8 and navigation.

I have accrued alot of knowledge about the 4Runner from this site and I will continue to do so as long as anyone will listen (or my knowledge runs out) while at the same time learning and modding my new tundra (probably at TundraSolutions.com). I will still visit and give my opinion frequently (maybe to some people's dismay :) ). And yes, I'll post pictures ASAP!

Congratulations!

What made you decide to take the plunge? I looked at the Tundra a couple of weeks ago and it's very nice. Have fun trying to park that thing.
 
I am sure that you got 4x4, right?? I bet that all of Tundra sold in CO is 4x4 anyway.

Oh yeah, congrats!! Don't be a stranger here when you get your Tundra!:)
 
If I was in the market for a pickup, the Tundra sure would be on my list. Good luck on buying the first year run. Someone has to do it....it might as well be you!! :D
 
i spotted a double cab tundra parked right outside my work a day ago. My first thoughts on that thing was "now thats big" haha. If i recall it was a Texas Tundra and that thing that caught my eye was its "5.7L V8" emblem on its fenders... what a beast.
 
after all those mods to your 4runner you are just letting it go? wish i lived in co, i wouldn't mind buying a thing or two from you.
 
Congrats. Post pics and opinions once you take delivery of it.

I've been having the itch to go test drive one of those whenever it may be that I finally can. I'm jealous....
 
Thanks for all the kind comments!! Yes, I know its going to be quite an experience parking that thing, but with the tightest turning radius in its class combined with front and rear sonar, I think I'll be OK. Some factors that made me take the plunge were my initial impressions from driving it, the fact that I can get it exactly as I want it (red rock leather, nav, 5.7L V8, etc.) and that the dealer selling them is working with me on the price just to get the truck out on the street. I'm getting the new Tundy for invoice and with a few options I should be right around $40k out the door. Did I mention the "Just gotta have it" factor?

As for the 4Runner, I'm working on either selling it to a friend or get trade in from the dealership I'm buying the Tundra from. The more I drive the 4Runner the more I realize how awesome a vehicle it is, and question why I'm getting a much larger, less nimble truck. And I keep convincing myself how much I'll love modding the engine and slapping a lift on that bad boy in the future. There is just a part of me that wants a big truck, and the Tundra does it for me. In case anyone is curious, the dealership offered me $24k for the trade-in value, which was a little lower than the $25k I wanted, but I will save $1700 in taxes by trading it in to them as opposed to selling it myself. I still have a friend who is willing to pay $26k because he wants it that bad.

I would encourage anyone out there to go and test drive the new Tundra, its quite an experience. With the traction control turned off it will spin the rears all the way through first gear and reach 60 in 2nd gear in an astonishing 6.3 seconds. Although this is not the only reason I'm buying it, the new 5.7L V8 has alot to do with it.

I'll post pics upon delivery. Again, thanks for the nice comments.

Which dealership out in Denver did you visit? When I was shopping for my ride back in '05 there were a few dealers that I was less than impressed with (Mountain States, Burt, Stevinson you know who you are).

Any good references for dealers out there would be of help to my family and friends that are still out in Colorado. Personally I like John Elway on Arapahoe (I guess they're now called Go Toyota) but if you had a good deal ordering a new Tundra someplace else please elaborate.

Very cool- if I could justify buying a full size truck, the Tundra would be at the top of the list. The 5.7 sounds like it is a very strong motor.

Not sure how it works in CO, but you may want to research the possibility of doing a "courtesy trade" through the dealership. That would allow you to sell the truck to your friend for the higher price AND save yourself the sales tax. Laws vary from state to state, but it could save you some $$$.

I'm buying from a dealership in Greeley called Ehrlich Toyota. Everyone seems really nice and helpful there and its out in the country away from the big city BS...

Ah OK. Heard of them but never thought about going up there to buy a car.

Going to school in Fort Collins I fondly remember the smell from Greeley.
 
I picked up a part for the 4Runner yesterday and in the show room was a brand new Tundra double cab with the 5.6 V8. First thing I thought was Ford or maybe Chevy. It is really big. It will be interesting to see how well it does.

I hear you there. I've recently been bitten by the big truck bug and I'm wanting one of those new Tundras bad. It doesn't help that I live in redneck heaven and I see tons of lifted, highly modded full size pickups all the time. It also doesn't help that 2 of my friends just picked up new trucks, an F150 4dr FX4, and a F350 King Ranch turbo diesel....Nice trucks. I think the new Tundra smokes both of them though.

I'm going to take you up on that advice and go to my local stealership to check one of those bad boys out.

I would say that 0-60 time has a lot to do with why I'd buy the thing. A vehicle that big that moves that fast! Awesome!

Again, congrats! (I'm still jealous...)
