Well.. Thats it.. My girlfriend left back to germany and then back to delhi for her senior year in high school...
and i wont get to se eher until x-mas when i go to germany (So who lives in germany with the 4runner? I got to show my Girlfriend what I could do to our car
)
Ok, enough feeling bad for myself... haha.. My friend is flying up here to CT on the 27th of July and we are probably going to start our trip on the 29th of July. Our Itinerary is CT to MN to WY to UT (Moab for off roading.. had to put this one in even though its out of the way a bit) to CA. Im starting my Freshman year at University of San Diego in Sept. We will be backpacking and flyfishing the whole way, but most of it if not all will be in and around Sheridan WY in the Cloud Peak Wilderness area. The total trip is about 4000 miles of driving not including stops, off-roading and any side trips (such as Yellowstone).
Ive got a couple questions to post all of you.
1) What should I have serviced on my car before I go? I will have the 5000 mile service done right before I leave even though I have less then 3500 miles on it, but is there any adittional services I should have done? I had my oil changed at 2100 miles but will have it done again, is the Genuine Toyota oil ok? Or should I request something else?
2) Should I add octane boosters in every tank of gas? Will these help performance, gas milleage or help protect the engine?
3) What emergency kit equipment shoudl I carrry? I would like to be well prepered if not over (Hey, Im an Eagle Scout... I HAVE to go by the Be Prepared Motto)
4) Anyone know where I can get a cheap V1 or 8500 x50 radar detector for cheap? I looked on ebay but theyr all in the 300+ for V1's and 200+ for the 8500's... Also is the v 1.7 on the V1 ok or should i make sure to get the v 1.8 with POP?
What am I forgetting?
The wilderness area in WY we will be going to is a 45 minute drive in on a pretty decent dirt road and then 5-10 miles of very very rough road, stream crossings over a foot depending on runoff and mud... Im still stuck with the crappy bridgestones unless I can convince my dad to get me SAFER tires... Should I through in some chains or Im thinking of getting a Hi-Lift with the winch kit...
Well Thanks in advance, and I will for sure post pics
Oh yeah, I wil start my mods AFTER the trip... I ran out of money when my girlfriend was here... I Love her more than the 4runner.... :]
