Planning to do the Tundra brake upgrade, and I need some help

I have a 1999 SR5 2WD V6 4runner. it has ~238000 miles. I want to do the tundra upgrade. my question basically come to, what year(s) can I use for the parts either new or if possible gently used? I have seen reference to a 199MM and a 231mm caliper and I know I will also need pads and rotors should I get new brake lines? I have 15" tires stock wheels. I am gonna have a mechanic to do most of the work but I need to buy the parts before I see him.

I used 2004 When I ordered my parts. I don't think it really matters. Your 15" wheels will not work. I would do new lines while you're in there but you do not have to. The 199's will work just fine. That being said I used 231's so I could get all the braking power available.
 
What do you mean about the wheels not working? I have 15" tires I am not sure about the actual wheel size, but I know they're stock.
 
15" rims are too small for the 231mm tundra calipers. You will need 16" rims minimum

And I used 2002 tundra as my vehicle
 
ok I just went out and checked the rims are 16" and the 6 spoke OEM type. Also it sounds like there is a range of tundra years that will work. anyone know the exact year range?

I could be wrong, but I don't think all the 16" OEM wheels will clear the 231s. You may want to double check your specific wheels if you are going with the larger calipers, or consider using the 199s.

This OEM wheel will NOT clear without grinding, or without a wheel spacer. I tried to fit it over my 231mm Tundra brakes and it would not work.

I now have Procomp 7069 wheels that are 16x8, 4 inch bs, and they fit with room to spare.

BFAD's thread was very helpful to me while I was looking to do this upgrade and I suggest reading into that. If you have wheels that wont fit, you may want to consider the smaller Tundra brakes, or just sticking with what you have and replacing your pads and rotors.

thank you I will check out the link. I think I will just use the 199mm size since I cannot afford different rims currently.

I ended up getting new wheels so I'm not entirely positive. I wouldn't think you would need anything over 1/2 an inch but I don't know for sure. I think the info BFAD put together has some info somewhere in there about it.
