Plasti-Dipped and now theres a Video!!

I did that piece too. I'd say go for it. Looks much better.

The one thing about Plasti Dip is that if it starts to peal then it won't take much to make it all come off or at least get to a point where it looks bad.

I heard Home Depot. I paid $8.30 at Lowe's.

Just did this as well today, thanks to your video I was just like screw it I'll try it for the heck of it. Turns out I love the way it looks! :frog:

...and yes it was a PITA getting all the Plati-Dip out of the small areas. Some of them I said whatever its so small you can't even tell anyway (at least with a black car). I could see where toothpicks would be a great help, I used some of the pick/floss things and the plastic was just too soft to really get a good jab at it, but overall it looks much better!

alcohol based, alot of cleaners have ammonia and the plasti-dip doesnt really like sticking to it

it probably wouldnt make that much of a difference just make sure your emblems are completely dry before you start.

I just washed mine like I would normally wash the car. Nothing special. I have that some people use rubbing alcohol.

Cool info man. I was reading up on the can of Plasti Dip and it says it requires a primer. I'm guessing you didn't use one and just cleaned and made sure it was dry? I want to Plasti Dip the chrome on my bumpers as well and do you think I would need a primer for that? Thanks

no i dont think you would, ive looked around on the forum and alot of people have done thier flares and bumpers without primer, it should work fine. haha infact i havnt seen anybody use primer with plastidip before. i guess thats the whole beauty of it

Another addition to the plasti dip family:hello: I am thinking of doing the license plate piece and the grille too. What do you guys think? Or will it look better if i matched it with the body color? Or keep it the way it is?

I've never used plasti dip but like how easy it is to color your emblems....now if you can paint it any color with a rattle can that would be awesome.

Anyone painted the stuff before?

I bought some, used it, and answered my own question. It is paintable so you can make it any color you like with your favorite rattle can :biggrin2:

im doin my license plate piece today hopefully, and i havnt decided what im goin to do with my grille, I want to do the satoshi mod but i have the newer grille and im not sure if it can be done??? :shrug:

It peels off....how durable can it be?

If your not riding trails or allowing things to dig into it then you should be fine. Atleast as far as I can tell from my sprayed decal test I did a few days ago on paintability, texture, and ease of use.
