I should have taken a pic of the tape i put on, but blue tape all around with a 1/4 to 1/2 inch gap from the edge of the letters to the tape. didnt put any tape above the letters/below the logo. but taped all around getting pretty tight in there but still leaving a small gap. take your time and do light coats.

PD is so easy to work with, a toothpick will get the job done. However, I suggest jamming playing cards behind the letters prior to spraying.

if you get it layed down right it should just pull out but i used a toothpick to get the edge ruffed up a bit and them some tweezers to grab it.
ill have to try this method notice i only have 3 of the 4 pics up i am waiting for the weekend, i over coated the DS and it had some bubbles so i pulled the whole thing off.
this is the black PD.
few last tips for others looking to give this a shot
Watch the videos on youtube from the dip your car guys they are good. best lesson learned after practicing on my Titan a few times before messing with the Runner is that more is not good. use light even coats get all the angles. my first coat is straight on, 2nd is lower or upper angle 3 opposite of prior and 4 is back to straight on and 5 and 6 are the angles again . always clear the nozzle prior to starting quick spray into the air or what ever. allows 15-30 mins to dry depending on your temp between coats. and if you mess up just pull it off and do it again. that's the best part about this stuff.

Looks good. I dipped the front last night but have yet to do the rear. I too watched the dip your car guys' videos and thought I was following their technique closely, but mine came out more textured than I thought it's supposed to be. To be honest it looks rad for the front and I don't plan on changing it, but wondering if there's a way I can get it smoother for the rear. Do you know what might have caused this from all you've read and seen? How many "passes" back and forth would you say you took on each coat? 3-5? It also could have been not doing a good enough job consistently ensuring the nozzle was clear.

I made sure and cleared my nozzle prior to each coat. remember it is a rubber coating and wont be super smooth mine does have a tad bit of texture but not rough like a bed liner. i was doing around 2-3 passes from 6-8 inches out quick passes though. maybe some of the others can chime in, but i feel that less really is more. light coats with more coats i think will provide better coverage and make it easier to remove. hope this holds true, i think im gonna tackle the rack next weekend.

Sweet, thanks! Mine is textured but not rough as well so maybe not far off from you. From photos I'd seen I may have overestimated how smooth it's actually supposed to be. Here is the proof...
Native, photos for your benefit also... Also, post pics if you do the rear black. I'm really happy with the front but am debating if I want the rear as obvious as black-on-white will look. I'm wondering how closely the white would match and am debating using that instead...

looks great from distance, yours does look a little more textured then mine does getting dark here now, i will try and grab a really up close daylight pic tomorrow. the only thing i could think of is the temperature (never mind that now i just saw you are in SOCAL) and it taking longer to dry each time, when i did my Titan in the colder months i gave it about 30mins between coats.
I love seeing it on the road blacked out it really adds a different look, I wish they would go back to the black emblem packages as a option.

In simply ur opinion, how would it hold up chip wise on the front bumper? Debating this or a carbon fiber wrap on the Trail's silver bumper section. The wrap I know will not give me complete coverage given all the wrapping angles unless I do some splicing. Having trouble working that out in my mind due to that material having a pattern in it. Keep thinking I should try PD first. Like that peel off option but think that might be the reason not to do it on a front bumper that will take so much road debris abuse.

i have seen quite a few guys that have done this on the front bumper, per the can it does not chip since its rubberized coating. but it can tear from rocks and stuff, form what i read those areas are so small you can easily just hit it again and fill it in. use the search guide here to help you in your quest for more info, it helps isolate the search down and can get very specific much better than the forum search.better 5th gen search
