Plastic Clutch Bushing remade?

Got my plastic clutch bushing the other day. I didn't realize it was so tiny. But my husband and I were looking at it and wondering if maybe we could have a machine shop make it out of brass or something sturdier than plastic. Has anyone ever done this? If so how did it turn out?

I have not. But if you find a way to get it done, I would happily buy one made out of a more durable material.

[yes, I've seen the work-around option on YotaTech thread which eliminates the need for the plastic bushing, but I have a thing about keeping the clutch as designed--even though it's a poor design]
